I will agree that there are some customers you would rather not have to deal with, but they also help pay the bills.

We are tending to paint this in extremes, IMO. That said, if it was my boss' decision to take that work, I would respect that. If it was my own business, I would potentially turn it away. Having worked in a shop that had far more work than it could handle, turning away work was a regular occurence. I would choose to turn away work from those not likely to be satisfied, so as to allow more time to complete the work of those who valued my services. It is a two way street. Providing good service at a fair price means that they can be lined up at the door. Not always, there were always slow times as well. I remember towing vehicles 100 km at the owner's requests, just to get them to the shop. That was a great place to work, one that had a great reputation.
I fully understand and support treating customers with respect. Customers should also treat their suppliers with respect. Some shops may not deserve it, and that was why I asked at the beginning of this thread what the dealership did to lose the OP's trust.
