Help - E70 Comfort Access Option
 

First, I would like to thank all members for their valuable information and support ...

I recently sold my 2002 X5 4.4i and bought a certified E70 (2007 X5 4.8i). The vehical specification sheet mention that my car has the comfort access option (code 322), however I couldn't find the sensitive black thing on the door handle and couldn't open of close the doors without using the keyfob.

Any advice on how to verify if I have the comfort access option and is it possibble that the specification report is not accurate !!? :dunno:

did you try starting the engine without inserting it also? Make sure the battery is good too since it's an '07. It may help to know the comfort access keyfob uses a non-rechargeable CR2032 battery while the others are rechargeable through the ignition slot.

There is no "black thing" on the door handle... I see a few grooves on the top that are body colored also and that's what I touch to lock... but I'm not sure if non-comfort-access vehicles have those too. To open you just grab any handle as normal with the keyfob within at least a couple feet of the vehicle. With the trunk lid, you push the underneath button within proximity. Try all handles and the engine - you never know if one thing in particular is faulty when it comes to electronics.

I checked the battery and it is not rechargebale, it is CR2032. I didn't get any error for the battery but I am going to change it anyway.

Regarding your question, I tried to start the engin without inserting the key but also didn't work.

I will check and let you know.

Just a quick update. I replaced the keyfob battery and still no comfort access!!!! There is absolutly no change

Im not completely sure, but when i was looking for x5's i wanted the comfort access keyless entry.

when i was talking the the salesperson, he told me he didnt have one available, and i pointed out that one of their cars has the "comfort access" option. the salesperson told me that "comfort access" simply means that you have a remote to unlock your car, which all bmws have. so i guess "comfort access" is not the same as "comfort access keyless entry".

Comfort access IS BMW speak for keyless entry and engine start/stop and no, not all BMWs have it. It's a $900 option on 2010 X5s (I don't know how they would price it on CPO cars).

It's amazing what salespeople are willing to say or do trying to cover up their mistakes!

If you have comfort access then you should have these grooves on the door handle that allow you to lock the car by swiping your finger across it. If you don’t have this, then you probably don’t have comfort access. See picture below that rh71 was referring to.

Also - see if the dealer can pull of the vehicle sticker and give you a print out of how the vehicle left the factory.

try this. put the fob in your pocket and try to unlock the rear hatch with your hand on the pull.

also try the rear doors. i have noticed my driver's door is getting finnicky after only two years of use. i have to manipulate the door handle some to get it to work properly.

honestly however, i don't think you have CA.

Sometimes it takes a second, especially for the trunk lid, I usually push the button a few times. Try unlocking the door, then (with all doors closed) touch those ridges of the picture above, if the door locks then thats a good sign. To unlock it, all i do is lightly touch the inside of the door handle and it unlocks all the doors. You should look around idrive too, cause I'm pretty sure I saw a menu option for something to do with comfort access, or what doors unlock, something like that.
