Check first the bill of sale papers you signed. There is a possibility they have model as 2008 on the papers. You can't do anything then.

I will check the papers tomorrow and let you guys know. I checked the vehicle registration just now, and it is listed as a 2009 on that.

I would recommend that you check all your paper work. If it is labeled a 2009 then check with a lawyer or the laws in your country. Anything else is just speculation (with regards to your rights, etc).

I checked the bill of sale/invoice and it is listed as a 2009.

What should I do know? What could be the best and/or worst outcome?

I am going to speak to my business law professor tomorrow and ask his advice since he knows the laws of this country.

You may also find out the manufacturing cut-off date as relates to model year for your country. Different countries have different cut-off dates.

bmwman3241 04-18-2010 11:22 AM

How do I find this cut-off date?

This is an insane thread.

OP- Contact BMW Germany- provide them with the VIN. Ask what model year this car would be considered IN THE COUNTRY IN WHICH YOU PURCHASED IT.

Your location including Los Angeles (and people not clearly recognizing your car and you live in the middle east) have led to a mess of information, much only applicable to USA. Correct your location to where the car is. Or clearly post the reference location for each thread if you have multiple cars in two locations. In the first post. Virtually everything having to do with model configurations, dealership behaviour, etc, is market specific.

I recall a post in this thread early on (#9) when YOU posted the results of the VIN decoder showing it was a 2009... if so, what is the point of the rest of this masturbation?

I trust the VIN decoder posted by X5miester in post 18.

Here another VIN decoder if you want to read yourself manually. 8th last letter is your key. Compare with other BMWs you have.;)

WOW. My bad...

I will contact BMW Germany to see what they say.

I guess I could have been more specific by stating where the car was purchased and is. As far as post #9 goes, I was asking which year my car is and am confused between production date, build date, compliance date, cut-off date, etc. and just wanted some clarification. Yes the VIN's 10th digit is 9 (2009), but if production didn't start until 10/08 and my car is 4/08, how is it a 2009.

Anyways, this thread could be closed if people don't like it..or you could just ignore it!!

You asked the question incorrectly. The year your car was built was 2008. It is a (Model year) MY 2009. This is all that really matters in terms of sales. Some buyers will be picky about manufacture date for rare cars or those who prefer later build dates but this is usually rare.

Enjoy it. CASE CLOSED!
