Got a quote for new 50i yesterday down here in Australia ..

$153k drive-away (that's about $140k US) .... you guys have it GOOOD in the US :yikes: no wonder all you X's are optioned to the hilt ;) For that money I could have an X5M and if the boot space was big enough park an X1 in there for the kids :D and still have change for my first speeding ticket :wow:

It's nice,
But for sure for me if changing the X, buying the new 7 series is a much nicer choice.

For those of you who are coming from an e70 4.8 that has the Sport Pack (ie has the true "stiffer suspension" as we know it) with 20"s and getting an '11 with Sport Pack with 20"s but no Adaptive Drive: is there a noticeable difference in handling between the "older" Sport and the "newer" one ?

Yes... Without adaptive drive, noticeable body lean during sharp turn... Although it really depends on your driving style, personally I like to take 90 degree turns at 30-40 mph :)

Ok so I finally drove the 2 new TT engines today--and did them back to back. The salesman let me drive without him being in them. I drove a non-sport 35i and then a non-sport 50i. Although I was curious what the handling would be like with the 20s at least I got to test the engines. All I have to say is it's no contest on performance. I launched both of them from a dead stop probably 6-7 times each. There is a noticeable lag on the 35i---the 50i just blows through the gears. If it were for a wife or you really didn't want to spend the extra $ for the 50i or wanted slightly better MPG I could see how the 35i would suffice (and if you are coming from a less performing SUV). Other than that the 50i is the way to go. Interesting the sales guy said the residuals have really jumped the past 60 days on the X5 thus the demand is pretty high and lease payments lower.
