I had this problem about a year ago. X was only six months ol and I was sure it was something more serious. Turns out they put some type of film around the upper door openings on the body of the car where the felt of the door frame rubs and it completely went away. It's been over a year trouble-free.

WTF? First it's the driver seat creaking/clicking (parts must be backordered, since I have not heard back from my SA) and TODAY I was backing out of my driveway (all windows fully closed) and my driver's window (although it sounded like the entire driver's side)...creaked and moaned so bad, it sounded like a wooden bucanner ship!! It now does it everytime I go in and out of a driveway, or when the torsional rigidity of the car is exercised. So annoying and disappointing!

4000 miles, 6 months and NO problems...and then BAM!! I love my car, and the 35d engine makes me happy every time I drive the car..but the interior quality/build quality is beginning to worry me.

Anyone have the driver's window fixed? Please post SIB #. THANK YOU!!

I previously posted the SIB for the passenger side, I wonder if the drivers has the same issue?

My new 2012 has a creaky drivers seat at 300 miles. Something tells me BMW had an issue with their seat vendor.

Good new is usually after one visit for a few odd things like this the cars are fine.

Thanks. If and/or when my "E70 driver's seat repair kit" comes in, and I have a service appt., I will show this to my Advisor. It really shocked and pissed me off, how bad it creaked...and it happened all of a sudden, no easing in. Just, BAM! Ohhhh, BMW!!!

Over the weekend, I rubbed a very small amount of German 'Gummi-Pflege" cream/grease all around the tubular, black weather stripping/moulding that surrounds the driver door frame and also the mouliding that is physically attached to the driver door.

NO more creaking. I mean ZERO!!! All that's left is the driver's creaking seat...and my 35d is back to flawless. :)

How is the handling on the range rover?

I LOVE our Range Rover. If I had to choose one car out of our 3 we have...I would choose the Range Rover in a NY minute. In tight twists and turns, the X5 does honestly grip better and feel more planted, but for the size, weight and height...the Range Rover is very good.

The Range Rover is just so damned comfortable, and the dash layout, design, materials and build quality is LEAPS and BOUNDS above the E70. Honestly, the Range Rover feels better than my 2010 750i and almost as good as the 2008 S550 we had! Also, 6 months of ownership and NOT one single issue with our Rangie!! ;)

At just over 14K miles, I am developing I guess what you would call a "small" creak in my windows. It actually sounds like all four door windows. Usually over bumps. It's just starting to get hot here finally and it could be temperature, but I'll look into it.

Thanks for the info, folks - and the SIB.

Now, if someone could just give me the SIB for the "windshield installed improperly and causes excessive wind noise" problem..

I may be wrong but actual "Gummi-Pflege" was discontinued years ago. Maybe it came back, or another company re-launched another product. My tube, I've had since about 2004. A little goes a long way!
