I have no dead on answer, but...
Just a shot in the dark, but can the wiring be done the same way that it was done in the E53 using the E46 SMG steering colum? My only stumper is that the shifter on the E7X if fully electric? and there are no wires like the E53 under the boot. Scenario 1: Buy a E7X ///M steering colum and wiring? (possible flaw: The cars computer does the work?) What I would try to do is find out how the concept of +/- works in the X5/6M works. If anything, i'd seach around for other non paddle to paddle conversions (on other models), if any exist. |
Hmm.. I believe that the manual part of the gearbox for E53 is electrical also? I've seen hacks for both Z4, E53, E46 etc, but not yet on E70. Almost all of them lacks 2 cabels from the colum to the gearshifter.
I'll call my dealer today and have them ask around. |
Still no solution for this.. I would really like to have the paddles working. The dealer couldn't help me either.
Does anyone know if the heating will work if I but this wheel on a car that doesn't have heating today? |
This has been discussed here in the past
See this link
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...stalled-4.html It seems you will need a module 255 for the steering wheel (whatever that is) - and then you most likely will need to go to bmwcoding.com to download the software to configure the module. I have not tried this (and would like to - I have a 2011 X5 with Msport package) but am waiting for someone else to do this. |
Hehe, no problem! I can go first! I'll order the 255 module on Monday, if it's not a million dollars:-)
My BMW dealer is my neighbour and a really good friend, so I think I can use his carshop one night or to. If this works, I'll order some kore of these Msport stearingwheels for resale. |
If you don't have an m pack can you put the X6 sport steering wheel on it?
|
Fanstatic look, great job bro
|
My dealer cant fint this Module 255. Is there any partnumber I can search for? In paralell Im doing the same install on my E85:-) Much easier!
|
I have just installed the M steering wheel with the paddle shifters and would love to get them to work. Is there any progress on getting these paddles to actually work? Now that the 2012 models are coming equiped with paddles for the sport option, there should be coding or modules available, right???

I am also interested, any progress guys ??
