Everything work, except the gearing + and -.. Any tips?

Hosse, when you removed the steering wheel, how do you know that you put it back on correctly? I.e. - since the DSC monitors steering wheel angle, what are the chances that you put the steering wheel on a few degrees off? Is it easy to make this mistake or are the differences in degrees position obvious enough that you won't put the steering wheel back on incorrectly?

I am asking since I had a defective heated steering wheel which got replaced. But now I noticed that the steering wheel is slightly turned left. The X5 tracks perfectly straight, however.

I installed my M-Sport wheel myself a month or two ago. You can tell it's aligned since there's a little line on the rod coming from the steering column and a line on the steering wheel itself. Just line them up and you're done. Same setup on my '01 E39. Impossible to misalign unless you completely ignore that. You can't see it on his pic since it's under the large bolt that holds it in place.

I've tried searching this thread and others but could not find a part number or place where people are purchasing the M-Steering wheel. Can someone help?

I bought my M-sport steering wheels (E92, E70) from overseas sellers on eBay. They're new and from what I can tell, 100% genuine. They go from like $250-400 whereas at a dealer, expect paying $700-$1000. If you need to look up a PN, just go on realoem.com.

This is the m steering wheel, not the m-sport package steering wheel. For one it has paddles, 3 color stitching and has heating button.

BTW, does the steering wheel heating work .. assume it does right ?

How about the other buttons on the right hand side? One should be a (M) button to bring up your m-drive settings. I assume on a regular car, this is still the mode toggle for the radio/cd. The button below should be climate air mode. These all work properly?

Same thing except the threading on the M are colored red, blue, and violet whereas M-sport gets black threads. Paddles are on the M-sport only if you have a 50i.

Why not just get the OEM sport steering wheel with the peddle shifter? The only downside they don't have a heated steering wheel button! Other than that same wheel, same wires, bolt on. The best thing is that they go for about $300.

Two reasons.
1) The "leather" (probably leatherette) feels like Rubbermaid products
2) The M-sport is thicker. I have big hands and after driving for a few hours with the sports wheel, my hand gets crampy. Feels like less control of the wheel too.

Does anyone know the size of Allen key or bolt it is to remove the wheel?

Likewise, explain the airbags removal if possible.

Thhanks
