I wouldn't say buying a Civic was a dumb move. In fact I would say it probably was a wise move. There is a significant difference in operating cost between a Civic and an X5.

back then my concern was "I should have bought a USED civic, not a new one" - thats all.

If you are into "nice" cars, then don't go with the 328. Its a bottom feed BMW, that looks rather generic without all the aero pieces. And the engine, it will be a downgrade from your old G. I would either keep the G or go with the X5.

No offense to the OP but he can't even afford the "bottom feed BMW". He's buying outside of his league. Given he asked about two specific models of vehicles I've limited my recommendation to them. However stepping outside of that I would recommend he avoid a later model BMW altogether and live within his means.

Understood. But the operational costs of a used Civic likely weren't going to be less than a new Civic. Given the new Civic came with a warranty it may have even made sense to buy new as opposed to used.

And that might be a more realistic option for the OP. He might be able to lease a new F30 for what it would cost him to buy / maintain a used X5.

if it helps a common rule to follow is that your monthly auto expenses (gas, insurance, car payment) should really be about 20% of income- so it doesn't help if you have $0 income lol

back in college I felt like I HAD to work just to pay the car payments and insurance, when I would have just worked less, and partied more

Considering how nice his hooked up G looks, I have no idea why he wants to switch, especially when he's into nice cars.

I think it was because of greediness.. I kind of regret why I sold my G tho. I wouldn't have sold it if I knew I was gonna consider 328i (my stupid friend who decided to sell at such a good price, giving me headache). My parents asked me to sell my G and get a safer car since they hated my Lowered G. But after I sell my G, there are NON. It's natural for human to always want something better than they had so I don't want to suddenly buy honda or toyota. But When I want to get good brand like BMW Audi level, price seems to be too high and feel too sorry for my parents. But I am going to make up everything after finishing dental school and start working.

Did they think it wasn't a safe car?
Maybe they meant the driver isn't safe behind the wheel

Get a BADASS 335i

^^ may be not.. When they were in my car once, they saw me slowing down bit too much for the bumps in the middle of the road. Car was lowered so I always had to be careful going over bumps, and looking out for pot holes. Which also gave me stress time to time because I couldn't let anyone of my close friend drive my car. And when I drove my dad's SUV, it was so high up on the ground, and loved it felt like more man. lol

Love the X5 but may it in next ten years when I can afford.. is the right thing for me to do..
