I don't think BMW ever made an X3M, perhaps you meant X5M or X3 with M sport package?

Truthfully I thought it was an X3M I will have to look when I get home tonight, your probably right though it has ///M door sills at least :P. Is there an easy way to tell if it is an X3M or just an x3 with M Package?

What year is your X3? Do you know what engine it has? It usually says it on the side on the front doors.

It's a 2013 Xdrive 35i. It is a M-Sport Package not X3M :(

It seems odd you would think your X3 35i is an X3M, regardless of having owned an X BMW before or not...

Not trying to pick a fight here.

That's the first "M" vehicle I bought. I did not buy it new I bought it from an auction and it was listed as an X3M. I know very little about M BMWs so I bought it, these are the first newer BMWs I've had if someone put alpina roundels on it and they listed it as an alpina I would have bought it still knowing there is no such thing. But I get such good deals at the auction it doesn't matter. I could throw an engine in it and still make money.

X3 35i and X6M are two completely different animals. Imagine your X3 got really fat and had a 555 hp engine in it and that's what you'll get with the X6M. Comfort wise I didn't notice that much of a difference. The X6 does ride a bit more stiff but it won't break your back or make your kids cry. You can also forget about MPG....X6M is flat out horrible. Basically it's one of the most impractical vehicles you can get; it's big, unnecessarily powerful, thirsty, has the visibility of a shoe box, and a interior size of a Manhattan studio. I would definitely recommend you test drive one if you ever get the chance though, it's an extremely fun car to drive and in my opinion the styling blows the doors off of the X3.

The words "dealer" and "dealership" define businesses that are licensed by the manufacturer to sell/service a certain marque.

Seems the X in question was purchased from a used car lot. Is that correct?

No, I bought the X5 from a local BMW dealership. I actually just went and looked at it and they seem to have punctured the left rear air spring while they had it up on the rack.

Yikes, but I'm glad you got it fixed

I constantly wonder how people can get to a position in life to afford a $xx,000 car yet dont understand that used car dealers are just liars.

They dont do a real PPI. They just patch up the car and hope it doesnt die for a few months until you go away. Now, like some abuse victim, they sold you a lemon and for $240 you are thankful they agreed to help fix it.

In the future, GET A INSPECTION by "not the seller" and by "a good, qualified mechanic". Who knows what else they might have found had you had a real inspection done. Transmission good? Fluid changed?

Sigh

Agree: The Pre-Purchase Inspection(PPI) is Always worth the money. It saved me just a week ago from buying something I shouldn't have.

Disagree: Not all used car dealers are deliberately trying to hide the truth. Sometimes it's just ignorance. The Pre-Purchase inspection tells you the difference between the two groups. ;-)

Note to consider: Some dealers are thinking about getting rid of the PPI. Owners are coming back and blaming them for not finding problems that come up months later with the vehicle. The dealers do the best they can to tell you what can be seen at the time. Try to balance this between the assurance you get with a warranty.
