No, I bought the X5 from a local BMW dealership. I actually just went and looked at it and they seem to have punctured the left rear air spring while they had it up on the rack.

With a BMW dealer the PPI makes it "certified pre-owned".

I would think BMW will fix the issues.

I constantly wonder how people can get to a position in life to afford a $xx,000 car yet dont understand that used car dealers are just liars.

They dont do a real PPI. They just patch up the car and hope it doesnt die for a few months until you go away. Now, like some abuse victim, they sold you a lemon and for $240 you are thankful they agreed to help fix it.

In the future, GET A INSPECTION by "not the seller" and by "a good, qualified mechanic". Who knows what else they might have found had you had a real inspection done. Transmission good? Fluid changed?

Sigh

Yes,I completely agree with you here.I've done similar mistake before on used cars. After a while too many issues occur and you spend like 3 times the money you paid for the car,it is stupid. So ,the best is to check the car before you buy it by a friend mechanic or by a shop that you trust, especially if it is used vehicle and not covered by any warranty.

That would be true if it were a 2009 or newer but mine is a 07. All issues have been fixed, in the end I didn't feel like dealing with Tomkinson so I just fixed everything myself rather than them having my vehicle for a month. Ended up putting a new rear air spring, valve cover, both solenoids, pre-cat O2 Sensor on it.

No absolutely not.

A PPI is simply an inspection. The CPO is an inspection plus a warranty. And if a BMW dealer misses a defect when they are doing the CPO inspection, you have NO recourse with BMW. They simply missed it. You can sue them if you think they screwed you. BMWNA will do nothing. People need to stop thinking a CPO is some kind of 'assurance' you are getting a good car.
