I have a production number

Well boys and girls, I pulled the trigger today and ordered my 2010 X6 50i. Performance Center Delivery is November 13th. :D

Black Sapphire
Brushed Aluminum Trim
Black Nappa Leather including Dash
Comfort seats
Sports Package (I did the 19s so I don't have to screw with changing tires for winter)
Cold Weather Package
Premuim Package
Premium Sound
Rear Climate
Rear view camera with top view
Running boards
Comfort Access
Space saver spare
Sat radio

And last but not least
PERFORMANCE UPGRADE :zoom: 440 horses, thank you!

I just need to decide on the term of the lease. I did 24 months on the E70 - too short. I really like the E70 and wouldn't have a problem with driving it another year. I'm leaning towards 30 months.

Let the torture of waiting begin.

Michelle 09-03-2009 05:10 PM

How exciting, L! It's going to be a very long 10 weeks!

cmyX6go 09-03-2009 05:13 PM

You're not kidding. I drove a 50i for the first time today. OMG! The exhaust note is sweet. It growls. :p: The throttle response is much different than my X5, and this was a 2009, it didn't have the performance package.

I'm so excited!

motordavid 09-03-2009 05:47 PM

Congrats, L!
Damn...PC Delivery in SC, (about an hourish from our Mtn Joint), and we are migrating to FL that weekend. :(

I want a ride in that sumbitch; I think I'll have to take a number... ;)

Thanks, L...I musta leaped the velvet rope and jumped the line,
somehow. I wish we were "home" during your trip to SC to pick
it up, so we could hook up.

rayxi 09-03-2009 05:55 PM

Way to go L! Hopefully you have enough time before the snow flies to enjoy the 440 to the max.

My current lease isn't up until 12/8 but I figured I'd play it safe for the ride up and take delivery a few weeks earlier.

L, Good idea...but, I think the chance of you driving in any kind of
real snow, that early, going back up I-95, etc., are slim to none.
A little further west and, a lot higher, you might see some, but
I think you will be fine. I miss my ol' leased co. cars, though none
of them were in the X6 category.

Quicksilver 09-03-2009 07:02 PM

I knew L was gonna say that. Man I'm Jealous.......;)

Or, maybe L is favoring we younger men, now.

AzNMpower32 09-03-2009 09:39 PM

Aw crap I'm just a few hundred miles too far north from SC and 70mi too far west from I-95. :(. Or maybe if it's a weekend I can ride down to Richmond, or I could do my trip to NC. :D

Congrats though! PCD will be tons of fun. I-85 is a good drive too. Virginia autobahn anyone?

chilliwilli 09-03-2009 09:51 PM

Dibs on ride number 2 ... :D ...

4.6is Ryder 09-04-2009 12:42 AM

L, you'll need to find something to do for the next 10 weeks. Posting on here will be somewhat helpful, but the wait will be torture. Congrats on the new beast!!! As always, keep the peanut gallery posted......Phil

Gratz - I am sure you will love it :) The X6 tends to draw a lot of attention where ever you go. Ecomaniacs will loathe you and car-heads will want to know everything. Good times :)

Thanks all. I am excited. I don't think I'm going to be anal and track the status. It's a mute point, I won't get it any faster due to the Performance Center Delivery. The anticipation makes the experience better. I took my E70 off the lot and there was just something missing without the wait.

explicitdwk 09-07-2009 02:46 AM

Who said that?!?!?!

It's still in "ordered" status: :banghead:

How long does it take for the status to change? :tapping: I can't lock into the PCD date I requested, or any other date for that matter, until I'm in 112 status. They told me they wanted at least 8 weeks lead time to do PCD. I did 10 weeks to make sure I got the date I wanted. Are they holding back because they don't need to build it yet?

So much for not tracking. I just added the link to my favorites

Thunder22 09-09-2009 05:08 PM

Thanks. I really don't plan on being impatient. I won't get it any sooner if it's built early. My only concern was scheduling the PCD. But I just got an email confirming my requested date of Nov 13.

9 weeks to go. :dancing:

US-15 and US-29 are North-South alternatives (at least in SC and NC). The latter is more of a divided highway though and it really sucks to drive. I've driven US-15 from NC to VA (and in various stretches, up to PA) and it's a lovely drive but extremely rural.

KYZRSOSE 09-10-2009 12:10 AM

As for the twisties, when you get back into the NY/NJ area...The Merit Pkway in CT is fun, as is the Taconic Pkway in NY, plus any Harriman State Park road (from Route 17 in Sloatsburg, NY through Monroe NY.) The Saw Mill past the Tappan Zee is also fun.

Enjoy it! :woohoo: Tic-Toc till delivery

The Merit is a great drive, except those people are fookin crazy. You could be doing 75 and they come up on your ass like you're holding them up. And that right lane..... with people merging in without a running lane, from behind a blind underpass into 70 mph traffic :yikes:

With 440 hp, I think I'll surprise more than mustang drivers :D

I still haven't decided on the term of the lease. Originally I was leaning towards 30 months, so I'd be up in May. Spring is a great time for a new ride. But me thinks I'm going like this bad boy and may want to go a full 3 years. Decisions........decisions :dunno:

Ironically enough I recently did some maintenance work on an 09 X6 5.0i with the full leather dash etc. Pretty much exactly what you are getting but without the performance package. That thing is sweet as hell and one I would love to drive everyday!

I'm still waiting for the first X6M to be delivered to the dealer, and if I know the big boos man dealership owner it will be black on black and his demo! (must be nice to choose whatever you want to drive)

I'm getting psyched! My brother is trying to convince me to change the color to white :wtf: Ain't happening. That beast was made to be black.

The X6M I sat in at the dealer (and refused to test drive ) was for the owner too.

Bro means well. He knows I like the power and the handling, so he thinks I'd prefer driving a car over a 5000# SUV. The E70 is my 6th SUV, he just wants me to be open minded and try something different.

He says he hates driving the X5, but borrows it when he needs cargo space instead of using dad's Touareg.

cmyX6go 09-18-2009 06:05 PM

I'm torn...

I'm seriously considering changing my trim from brushed aluminum to bamboo. :dunno:

I'm getting a bit spooked by all the posts lately about easily it gets marked.

AzNMpower32 09-18-2009 06:46 PM

Stick with the aluminium. Brightens up the interior and gives it some contrast.
http://www.qtl.co.il/img/copy.pnghttp://www.google.com/favicon.icohttp://www.babylon.com/favicon.ico

Weasel 09-18-2009 07:15 PM

As much as I love the aluminum, it looks clean and sporty... But the ebony stained woods have a real soft spot with me. I absolutely love the black stained woodgrain whether it is the burl wood of the bamboo. Has a more warm feeling than the aluminum.

I guess it all depends on what your preference is... the clean contrast of the brushed aluminum, or the blended warmth of the dark wood. Either way you will love it as soon as you are sitting in the new beast looking at it so there is no bad choice between the two.

That is a good idea. Alum trim is less forgiving.

Do yo know what style wheels you are getting?

I'm getting the 19s with all seasons. I don't want to start screwing around with changing wheels each season. I think 258s? came standard with the sports pack for 09. Did they change that. I don't remember seeing wheel style on the paper work.

This damn trim choice is really getting to me. I keep changing my mind. I think the aluminum will look great, especially once I get my pedals. It's a nice contrast like Weas and Matt said.

Bottom line, do I try something different or take the safe route? Today the choice is try something different. Let's see how I feel tomorrow.

8 weeks from today I'll be driving that bad boy home.

Bamboo

I'd be concerned with the posts too - for me I figure it's only a matter of time till I scratch it up myself - then I'd be like DOH... I knew that was going to happen. Maybe go back an look at how bad the pics look of the aluminum trim that is scratched most and see if you think you would be ok with it looking like that. Good you still have some time to work this out.

Excited for you, pretty cool!

It's the buy vs lease thing. If I was buying it, the bamboo would be my choice hands down. Since I lease, I figure I have the opportunity to try something different without worrying about long term commitment.

X5rolls 09-19-2009 06:48 AM

True, I hadn't thought of it that way. Then the day after picking it up you can start deliberating what's next and if it gets scratched (still trying to take great care of it of course) you aren't so emotionally attached that it matters a great deal. Smart. A bit more $ to go this way but you get that great new car smell frequently and get to drive the newest and greatest if you want. So it sounds like you might have your answer?

The day after  I'm already thinking what's next. New 6er with xdrive.

I do take good care of my cars even though they are leased. If I bought used, I'd want to get one of my lease turn ins. I'm not too concerned with little dings and scratches, but I will be replacing the trim if it gets nasty.

Like I said, today Aluminum wins. Can't promise what tomorrow may bring.

I love it. I didn't think I would. I was not a fan of the E70 and only got it because the X6 50i wasn't available yet. I leased it for 2 years as a bridge car to get me to the X6. I really thought BMW blew it when the E70 came out and that handling and power would be lacking with the heavier and bigger design. I WAS WRONG...

Just be sure that you get the wheels you want. There are changes sometime with year turn over. I had a screw-up on E60 when they changed the sports wheels at turn of year to 17" and 18" was extra money. Dealer did not know that and car was already in production. They had to build another car again from scratch.

Rememeber Steved's issue. ;)

This is style 258.

I actually don't like the 258s I do like the wheels that show when you build your own on bmwusa before you add the sports package. Don't know the style number or size.

I think that is 258.

You can check available styles here Select Light aloy wheels for X6 to see 19" options.

My favorite wheels for the X6 are the Style 259s. Don't know if they're available in the US.

I like it how BMW AG charges extra for real aluminium or wood trim and a moonroof for the €58k X6.

259s are nice, but they are 20" and L is loking for 19". They are available in US. Some members here have it on their X5.

The Style 257s are another option but those are the base wheels of the X6 5.0i in the US, so I don't know if that floats your boat.

I'm not really loving any of wheel choices. Do you mean these, Matt? I need to find out from the dealer what comes standard.

Weasel 09-21-2009 07:58 AM

I'd say get the smaller cheaper base rims for winters, and by the time spring comes around again you may be itchin for some 21" 215's or 275's anyways. :wow:

motordavid 09-21-2009 08:28 AM

I like the X6, sorta...esp. in certain colors, but I am surprised the
wheel offerings are so hmmmm, unless one goes to 20s.
But, I wanna ride in L's big HP car one of these months!

I'm really trying not to get caught up in the change out the wheels each season deal. I'll keep whatever 19s come standard unless I really hate them. The 258s aren't bad I guess, but like mD said, I'm surprised the choices are so

Yeah, that's it and standard on the 5.0i. I don't think it looks bad, but I'Ll admit that the X6 is one of a few BMW models that's a bit short on imagination for wheel designs. Maybe they used it all up creating the exterior.

If you want a quick visualiser just click on the wheel designs: BMW X6 : Außenausstattung

If you want to be very, very special, the Individual wheels are 19" as well, style 265. Might be pricey.

cmyX6go 09-21-2009 03:15 PM

Thanks Matt. I'm waiting to hear back which 19" wheel comes standard with the sports package. Unless I hate them, I'll keep them. I could live with the 258s or the 232s.

EDIT: I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Dealer said they don't have the info yet on which wheels will be standard. Maybe they'll have a new style....

LeMansX5 09-21-2009 08:34 PM

What about potholes in NJ/NY areas ??? With 19", I end up doing wheel alignment every 10-12K miles, with 20" it might get even worse!

Aren't the 20s staggered, those 315s will be sleds. Plus, if I change to the 20s on the order, they come with performance tires, not all seasons.

Do you hit every pot hole? I've never had an alignment and I'm straight as an arrow.

I'll just wait and see what comes standard.

Yes, they are staggard. But if you are driving on under 5-6" of snow you should be ok. Little diference between stag 19" and 20".;). jmh has 20s for winter and I believe few X5 members have all season Toyos.
Toyos and Michelin Latitude Tour HP are all seasons in those sizes.

The 19s aren't staggered though. I think they're 255 all around, no?

chilliwilli 09-23-2009 10:15 AM

I run 20's on 295/Vredestien Wintrac's on my 4.6iS. There's a fella in my parking garage with a 50i on staggered all-season 20's. He says he has no issues driving in snow...i know a couple people that tried running a similar set-up as the X6 on their 4.8iS but it failed miserably in snow...must be those wonderful upgraded electronics :D

cmyX6go 09-23-2009 10:20 AM

But if I change the order to 20s, they come with performance tires. I'll have to buy a set of all seasons. I can't swap them out because of the PCD delivery, they will already have 600+ miles on them.

I'll just stick with the 19s, until the bug gets me somewhere around April 2010 when I decide I want summer shoes.

It looks nice in direct sunlight, but otherwise I think it's kind of blah.

My pedals came today from Bimmian. One of the screw holes on the gas pedal doesn't go through. Same thing with the ones I got for the E70.

But then I saw Rastagurl's wheels...

I'll be quiet now, sit in the corner and wait in agony all alone :saad:

Congrats, cmyX50go! I also have a 2010 X6 5.0 with just about all options, including active ventilated seats and active steering, in mineral silver. Still in 112 order status, but have been told by my dealer that product should begin in week 43 (which is next week). I don't think that will happen, but at least it should be built by end of November. I decided to go with the 19" wheels with all seasons RFT's with the sport package instead of the 20" performance RFT's since I'll have to drive into northern Michigan several times a year. I've done extensive research on the new generation 3 Bridgestone RFT's that are going to be put on most of the 2010 BMW line of vehicles, and it looks promising...at least better than the crap that Bridgestone was making before.

Hi Brocks. Just had to respond to your posts because I'm getting my 2010 X6 5.0 from SunMotorCars BMW in Mechanicsburg, PA, which is just down the road from Scranton. We live in northern Virginia, but the people at SunMotorCars really rolled out the red carpet for me as a new customer. Best of luck to you with your new X5 diesel (great machine...I drove one...but then saw the X6, and fell in love). I should have probably gone with the X5 diesel. But that would be much too rational.

Thanks for the good wishes. Can't wait for my X6 to arrive. It's really not a bad drive from here to Mechanicsburg off of route 15. I have found that if I turn left at Baker's restaurant and go the back way, it cuts off about 15 minutes to get to SunMotorCars on Carlisle Pike. If we had more than two parking spaces at our condo, I would have probably gone with the X5 diesel and 3 series or Z4. But with only two spaces, I've got to have a fun car/work car for my horn rolled into one. Thus the X6.

It's a must have for the people with fashion ;) The 50 of them probably already sold out, if previous BMW-Neiman Marcus models have been any indicator. Comes with 470 bhp, Celestial Black metallic paint, and most importantly, a 5-piece set of Jaguar luggage in navy.

Why does no one appreciate a luxury cruiser? It's like everyone wants every kind of car to be able to go around a corner at 80km/h sideways with no body roll.

Oh right, this is a BMW forum.

Right on, Ravenheart. If you want to be transported in an appliance, then buy a Prius. But if you want to really drive a vehicle...get a BMW.

I think I'm getting old; a fair number of the time, I just want a luxury cruiser that soaks up bumps and is driven slowly. A BMW just isn't a car that I can really relax in nor drive slowly. But that's a topic for another thread another day.

What airline are you flying? The flights were ridiculous on a one way basis. I booked Continental on a round trip with a week in between arrival and departure for $235. One way they wanted over $1000 per person.

BMW said not to book the flight until 3 weeks before due to possible production or weather delays. I didn't want to wait, so I booked as soon as production was completed.

This thread is helping me pass the time. I'm more excited than I've ever been waiting for a new car to be delivered. Not sure if it's the PCD experience or the ride itself. I've wanted the X6 from the first minute I saw it at the market survey thing I participated in.

My goofy friend Tina is coming with me. She already thinks I'm sick. Just wait until I tell her she has to play Joe Photographer so I have pics for all my BMW buddies. She will never let me live down not being able to decide between Jet Black and Black Sapphire Metallic. Non car people just don't get it.
