I'm not sure I understand your statement in the second sentence. If you have option S640A, then you have the DB25 plug that plugs into the custom wiring harness from AA's. Does that make sense? |
SuperGreg,
I appreciate your answers! the Part Number - would that be on the invoice perhaps ? As for Sentence 2. I'm not sure either. Let me explain; S640A is Telephone Pre-Wiring, std. on cars after 04/2002, some pre 04/2002 has a harness thats not BT compatible, hence the (potential) need for a new harness. The new Retrofit Kit (84 64 0 302 177) should provide handsfree, snap in box etc. Not wiring as this should be present in the car (hence the 03/2002 manufacture date requirement). For the ULF Box (84 10 6 969 268), this should connect directly to the harness above. So I assume that the AdvancedAutovations harness is a custom replacement for cars not having the harness preinstalled ? This is very difficult to determine - all i want to know is have anybody mounted the current bt kit on a 2001 x5 - with or without custom harness etc.. Regards, OhmegaStar |
I forgot to add, or am i missing the point .- it the advanceautovations harness a "converter" from the new ulf box to the older bmw harness ???
...very confused... |

- I know what option S640 is. That is the harness that has the DB25 plug at the end. - To answer this question "So I assume that the AdvancedAutovations harness is a custom replacement for cars not having the harness preinstalled ?" Yes and no. They have a harness available if you don't have option S640A, but their custom harness I have been mentioning is for retrofitting the newer ULF module to the older S640A harness with the DB25 plug. Mine was produced on 11/01, so I didn't need an external amp. I believe the 2001's without DSP also need the amp. I'll be back in a little while. Ask any other questions for further clarification. Yeah, I'm getting there then :-)
DSP is the Professional Sound System - Option 0677 ? I dont have that - I only have Business RDS (0661), with Changer (0672) & Nav (0609 (?)) So I (may) need an amp too ? - Where to get one of those - how to determine if i need one ?? Regards, |
UCrewX5,
Which ULF box did you install ? (bmw part no).. Thanks, |
