New Country BMW, Hartford, CT

Just picked up an 09' X5 at New Country BMW. The sales staff are professional and knowledgeable, and the service department is satisfactory.

After reviewing my lease agreement, I was convinced that a portion of the BMW rebate was snatched up by New Country at the 11th hour and voiced my objection in a prior post. I am all too happy to admit that I completely jumped the gun in coming to that erroneous conclusion. I'm happy because it means that my dealer New Country BMW in Hartford, CT really did treat me with the honesty and professionalism was all deserve when we get into a new BMW.

I sat down with the dealer and reviewed my paperwork. What I thought was an increase in the agreed upon sales price was simply the correct price, plus the wheel and tire insurance I opted for. Since I had paid for the wheels and tire insurance with a debit card after signing the lease agreement, I presumed it was a separate transaction all together and it wasn't. Completely my misunderstanding.

In retrospect, there isn't one thing that New Country could have done any better to improve my buying experience. I have, and will continue to, recommend them without reservation.

Yes. I had a pretty good experience with North Haven before.

What I don't understand is why the deal wasn't either in writing with no exceptions or why Pex5 would choose to do the deal with the shakedown that occurred.

The financial managers mode of operation has just been supported by Pex5's actions. If more of us walked away from such BS, the dealers may be inclined to rethink how they treat those who would pay their salaries.

I mean no malice towards Pex5 as I have been in the position where I had to get rid of the trade, but when I purchased my 08 X5 over the phone with a negotiated APR ( because they stated they would beat the rate I already had) and experienced the shakedown with a, "sorry that rate is not available, it must have been a mistake", I simply stood up and told him to put the plates back on my trade. All of a sudden the rate was now availale.

What would have happened if you showed up to pick up the vehicle and you said that you've decided you're going to pay $1k less than had been agreed to...they would have held any deposit you had and told you to have a nice day.

More of us need to stand up to this and do business with those that respect us. If it means driving farther to have it serviced than so be it. I purchased my vehicle from a dealer 2 hrs away and have it serviced at a dealer 10 minutes away. I gave them the opportunity and they chose to not be competitive.

It was my mistake

I should have waited until after I spoke with the dealer to post. Turns out the price difference I thought the dealer absorbed was the tire and wheel package I opted for.

They really did a good job from order to delivery at New Country.

Apology

Pex5.

Thank you for taking the time to come into the Dealership and go through the figures. As I said when I saw you, if we are wrong, I'll write you a check here and now. Although I was confident that we were right!

Dealers get a bad rap at times which is unusual in my eyes as we probably have the most publically posted businesses in the world. There are no other businesses where you can log into the internet and find out what the wholesaler pays for their goods and what the profit margins are.

Everyone wants a deal, naturally. Dealers need to make an ethical profit.

If anyone has any questions about dealer's margins, programs, lease rates, money factors, interest rates or bonuses are, I'll tell you. We have nothing to hide.

Ask Pex5.

We collect Customers, not cars.
