Has this part been tried out in the US? I have searched high and low to see if it was fitted in the US and if it worked to no avail...

Which begs another question - if I try to get this part, and it is not working as expected, can it be returned?

What the hell is a TMC module?

supposedly, one can retrofit (unconfirmed!!) a TMC module back to iBus cars with MK4 (and possibly MK3) vehicles with maps with TMC info on them.

That is my quest right now - I am trying to see, if the Sirius subscription service ($5 a month) passes that TMC info to the MK4, or the TMC module (a dedicated TMC receiver for BM53-single tuner) is needed.

Shelling out $600-700 just to try it out and who knows, if it will work or not - not a best perspective... So, last few days I was combing the English and Russian speaking sites for more info... no luck...

I would want to try it out but I also want to know if it is a no-go, would I be able to return the nit back...

That part number is a whole retrofit kit containing a dozen other part numbers, if you need those individual numbers, I can post them too...

We haven't done any testing on the module and I have not researched into the compatibility with US spec vehicles.

That listing on our site for the E38/E39 TMC module is no longer available from our standard parts warehouses, I just updated the site.

I can check around a bit for you to see if one of my other European sources has them avaible. It will most likely have to be sold under NCNR (no cancel no return) as it's a very uncommon part here in the states and we cannot return European market parts back to BMW.

Wow too much risk to try it out then Term. If you have a smart phone. I highly recommend trying out Waze Social Navigation App. I am telling you, I have friends that swear their Tom Tom, on whatever is the shit, until they try Waze out. Try it.
