Shoot this man
shoot him before it's too late ! "design elements which will be seen in the next-generation 5 Series due out in 2010." oh god what dark times we live in now.... first we were Bangalized now someone gave this nerd a pencil . im tired of the all in one "controversial" bmws. im tired of "controversial" going with bmws too. what happened to back in the day where you could look at the whole bmw line up and think they were all sweet ? idk..well maybe i do , Mercedes & Audi are starting to look really nice.. bmws were just cool before now it seems to be they have to be "Whether you love it or hate it" or "controversial" bmws case and point the x6 ..why was that thing really needed ? a X5 with a f*ck*d rear end.??? in my opion it takes away from the x5. The first time i saw the x5m and x6m i thought wow thats gay mix matching parts. it just brings it down a litlle in my book. (well i lied it was omg what an awful blue\white seat combo.) im sure i just pissed off the 12 people who like the x6 models but just keep in mind thats not what i was going for here. is that cool ? would you spend the $ you work for on it ? http://www.bmwblog.com/wp-content/uploads/p90045867_image-1900x1200.jpg that is a mess and i hate it. that back window is something else....

That's why I love the E39, E46 and E53s timeless look. More subtle, yet sophisticated look with a hint of muscle. I do like the E60 (but not too keen on the newest series of headlights) and the E63/64 is a beauty too. But it seems it takes a while to get used to the newer body styles.
Something tells me after a few more years we might want Bangle back... as bad as that seems.

Don't see what you have against Bangle, wasn't it him that designed the original E53?
I like the GT concept, it is just that at this time in my life I want something smaller and lighter, not bigger and heavier. As an alternative to the 535 Touring, it makes sense to me. The front end looks good, and is what we will see on the next generation 5. I also like the X1, seems the right size and gets good reports on handling. As a replacement for our current X3 in a few years, it is the most likely target. No need to worry about the X4, it was cancelled. You can put down the newer BMW models, but sales figures over the past three years suggest they know what they are doing. Maybe you just aren't their target market anymore?

their sales have been down.(for many reasons) (decreased 20.1 percent in June )
Bangle - e65 7 ( before the forced early face lift ) i dont think i would fit in an x1 first off . ( im 6ft1 ) my sister owns a 3 series and that is way to small. The few times she has given me a ride i always fear i am going to be paralyzed if she hits a bump or fall into one of our famous potholes here because my head hits the roof just sitting in it. to me the people wanting to go small and drive around the world using fairy dust are the people who cant afford to keep it big. i wasnt going to the size chart with my first post i was just going by design\looks. ( not saying anything about your personal income either) if im not their "market" then i wonder what they would think of someone who has always loved bmws and has purchased them in the past feeling like i do ? they probably wouldnt care..they might when i go to porsche and look at the porsche cayenne turbo s or mercedes ml amg like im going to..they might then. if im not their "market" why do i drive their first if you will "M" suv wait "sav" ?? i dont buy the go small \ 0-60 in 30second cars it seems people all want now. im also not looking to drive around in a 400mpg greenhouse looking thing with no life ,style or past either... i did however find a spyphoto of the new 5gt M

I can agree with you on the 5-series GT and the X6, but I bet you the new 5-series is going to be a great looking car. The only thing really ugly about the GT is the profile (because of the rear) and the rear. The front looks pretty good. Wait on the new 5 before you judge it.
I disagree with you on the X1. I think it is a really good looking SUV/SAV/crossover (whatever it is). I already see myself picking up a pre-owned one for my wife in a few years when our X has aged a little more. Bangle actually designed some pretty good looking cars. There were a few misses, IMO, but many more were hits. Plus MB and others dogged the Bangle-Butt then copied the hell out of it, so he must have been doing something right.

I am pretty sure the main designer of the new 7-series now works for MB.
Karim Habib - Car Design News Unfortunately, Lexus is aiming is styling at BMW these days. In the past they were heavily influenced by MB, but now it is BMW to go younger.

Not sure if I will fit in an X1 (I am 6'4"). I fit fine in our current X3, unlike the E70 (based on headroom). I fit OK in the E90, and was just fine with our E46 (special-ordered without a sunroof). You seem to have a strong attachment to "big is good, small is cheap" I would rather have a well-engineered small vehicle with good performance, than a large vehicle with lesser performance (weight being the enemy). I am a fan of the Colin Chapman school of design, which has as a principle that you design in lightness. Think about the X3, which weighs significantly less than an X5, but has 260 hp and a 6 speed manual. The X1 will have the same power, less weight, and is reported to handle very well in the first test drives. Doesn't sound like fairy dust to me. Maybe you should check out the F650 thread we had going earlier.
