That said, this new 3 is a pleasant evolution of the E90 in sedan guise. The current E92 is a great looking coupe - hopefully its successor doesn't wear the F30's face.

BMWs have offered cloth seats forever. Not so much in the US anymore but they are still popular in Europe & elsewhere. I liked my cloth seats in my 325e & 325i. Comfortable, high-quality & heated seats aren't required.

Very nice, esp the Sport model...though the X5 lower lights/valance is sort of GM'ized, across model lines.
If I was in mkt for a sedan, and if that trunk held a couple sets of clubs, and if I had ~$50+Gs fall in my driveway... Thanks for the full tilt boogie pics & stats, LM! BR, mD

Lately most US models have either leather or leatherette. The current M3 is offered with a combo cloth / leather in the US (it is the default on bmwusa.com). Last edited by haigha; 10-16-2011 at 08:29 PM. |

this is true, after looking at the X and the 3 series it looks like the cloth leather combo isn't an option that is offered often

I owned an e30 with cloth. I know cloth seats were an option on the e46 M3. Would have loved to find one of those as well as sunroof delete. Cloth holds you in the seat better. It also doesn't get as hot in the summer or cold in the winter. It should be an option here on new models, imo.

I would prefer it were an option on more models here too. In large part, it's a marketing decision based on what the majority of the public perceives as a luxury. The light gray leather in my X5 hasn't been an issue in the summer but I prefer the cloth in the winter. And, as you wrote, the cloth holds you in the seat better.
