Thecastle is on a distinguished road
Welcome to the forums. I generally find there is not a lot of X5 M action on any boards....

So I've owned 2x E70 X5's. A 2008 4.8i and currently a 2011 X5 M. My 2011 I purchased in March with 40K miles on it and it had every option possible. Rear entertainment, soft close doors etc.

I'm just going to state, SUVs are not sports cars, if you want a sports car an X5 M is not a replacement for one. A top heavy, overweight SUV ridding on 20" rims is never going to handle as well as a sports car. But with that out of the way I enjoy driving it more than any SUV I've ever driven. ITs a great luxury vehicle with real sporting capabilities, and it is probably the ultimate confidence machine at high speeds. ut it is not my daily driver, I enjoy my 2011 335D which is modded far more for fun and economical than my X5M. I generally get about 12-15mpg driving around town and on the freeway.

As for major problems, I've had none. I would recommend an extended warranty as they are expensive vehicles to repair if you don't diy. Also beware of the M tax, I find a lot of folks want to up charge you because of the M badge. However, there is no replacement for the X5 M.

General problem areas are injectors which are warrantied to 12yr/120K. The cars eat batteries, so I put mine on a charger at least 1x a month and if its sitting for more than a week. It needs 30K spark plug changes, and tires wear fast, and all the typical X5 E70 problems. Coolant lines, etc. No valve stem seals thankfully.

In march of 2017 I paid less than 33K for my 2011 with 40K miles. I think 41K for a 2012 with 30K miles seems high, but these are rare cars and a lot depends on your local market and conditions. Mine was in perfect condition inside and out and still smells new.
