Actually, I didn't participate in the event since I only care about the X ///M models. I had a spot for the M3 DCT test drive, however I didn't really care to drive it since I’ve driven a friends several times before. If you have a reserved spot, they will basically hand over the keys to the model of your choosing and allow you to drive it around town (alone) for 25mins. Additionally before the test drive you get to hear an M red talk about the technology of the DCT and a special discussion about the X ///M models (nothing special).

I was able to speak with an X ///M marketing rep who was kind enough to call a BMW contact for some clarification about the euro driving event/ delivery. According to his source you will not take delivery of the X ///M during the event (if you live in the US). Its nothing more then an ///M track day which is focused on the X ///M technology. Build date is in Sept for Oct delivery. In addition to the special X ///M colors (red/blue/black), the standard color pallet will also be available. No engine shots as they didn't want close ups of the engine just yet.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
If the X5M/// is still at the training center in ATL when I go back in 2 weeks I may be able to get some phone pics of the engine... I really should have last time.

Thanks for pics. How do you like it in person as compared to official pics?
Our member SANguru was also at the event today. I spoke to him but I will let him post his comments.

sorry to say... I wasn't that impressed with either X5M or the X6M . I also didn't drive the M3 either I've driven it many times. Danville police were also out in force and a bunch of people got tickets. I'll keep my 4.8i. Why spend 86K on a X5 M when you can spend 86K and get a 05 Gallardo?

Thanks guys. Honestly the trucks are amazing in person. Pictures don't do justice to the body lines and paint color. The blue is extremely unique. Looking back at the pictures you can see the silver sheen and light reflects off it like light on a crystal.

A few items I noticed:
-The rear bumper vents are fake. Why?
-The truck has a secondary oil-cooler that lays flat in front the bumper. They are actually making use of every bit of air passing through those huge vents!
-The brake rotors and front calipers are HUGE in person!!!!!
-The front bumper looks like rock nicks will be a huge problem. I'm not a fan of clear bras, however, we might not have a choice with this.
-Bent fins on the heat exchangers will be a visual problem as the demo truck already showed signs of wear.
-The steering wheel felt thinner then the M3's. Maybe it was just imagination.
-The wheel gap is HORRIBLE! Lowering will be a must, however, I hate to mess with the perfection that went into developing this ride.
-The leather carbon trim looks GREAT! Much better then in the M3.
-Oddly both trucks were using the X5 ///M wheels.
-However, the X5 ///M wheels look great in person. They match the reflective blue color extremely well.
-I was told the special X ///M black color is even more amazing then the red and blue. It will be a tough choice between blue, black, grey or white.

The only thing that’s lingering on my mind is the idea that its a 100k car with options and tax. 85k out the door I would be fine with, but 100k is going to be rough.

Cause I can't fit my wife and two dogs in a Gallardo
