Yeah, but the e70 has got to be about halfway through it's model run by now. Seeing as this was the first M-SUV and BMW's first real shot at the top dog Pepper, I would bet the new M version of the X5 will come out sooner with the into of the new model run and once again rival or beat soon-to-be, new Pepper. Especially with BMW going with FI. My guess is that the new Pepper will have a brief 15 minutes as well. They are probably going to continuously one-up each other with new model introductions. This was a big leap for BMW though.

I Respect what BMW have achieved in this class...But IMO Porsche is still the benchmark in the SUV division...just like the BMW M3 in it's class.

Don't get me wrong, Id take the M over the Cayenne any day...but thats just me...there are plenty of people who would rather get the Jeep/RR/Porsche for the same reasons that any of us would get the M.

I know what you mean.
The X5 was meant to be extremely competent but more so when compared to Lexus.
Porsche's SUV from the start one upped BMW and set the standard.
The TurboS and the X5M are so close in Performance and Comfort that for me it came down to styling technology and price. Porsche won the first but BMW clearly took the last two.

I have to argue with all of you stating that Porsche is the benchmark and performance SUV standard. I had a 2008 Cayenne GTS, now it was not a Turbo or Turbo S but the execution and quality of build of that car was crap. And basically outside the engine and Brakes, it was the same car as a Turbo S.

Well respect ur opinion...but im talking top of the line models...porsche has been at this a lil longer than BMW has...meaning this is the first X5M...so Porsche is the benchmark...since everything BMW has done in regards to the M is to compare it to the top of the line Cayenne...

Porsche or Volkswagon has been at this a lot longer? Cayenne is nothing more than a Toureg with different engine, brakes and some suspension components. Isn;t the next Gen Cayenne sthe same platform as a Q7?

Length of time really has nothing to do with it, Look at Ford and Toyota..

I'm with you, the engine, suspension and brakes were far more entertaining on my GTS compared to my e70 4.8. But the M blows that way. IMO.... I do agree though that it will be a battle between the two with every remake. Same battle goes on between the Camry and the Taurus. Not likley I will be returning to Porsche anytime in the future outside a Carerra S.

I think the next PC will be based on the Q5. It is a lot smaller than the current Cayenne. With the weight reduction, and the same horsepower, it should be one fast mutha. I love back and forth battles like this! It makes both products stronger.

It's a total shame the X M's don't have active seats. I love the active side bolsters in my M5. Even my wife loves that feature.

Was there a reason? Too costly?
