Thumbs down That Didn't Take Long - Speeding ticket in the new X5M

The lack of sensation of speed caught up to me this a.m.

54 in a 40 (40mph on a 4 lane industrial area = absurd)

Thought the limit was 45 and was just moseying along.. Valentine 1 laser warning went off and at first I thought the guy in front of me a ways had an LED rear brake light.. then I saw the fella in his POS Chevy Lumina unmarked with his window rolled down about 1/3 of a mile on the right.

Game over.. he was in no mood to bargain and I got my first ticket in 3.5 years.

(edit, oh and he wrote the description of the vehicle as 'BMW X6' )

Henceforward I'll be using cruise control (and paying a bit more attention to the posted limit)

Better luck to you all.

I guess it goes with the territory. I think you're the first victim, but I'm sure not the last. Sorry...

Why do we have speed limits anyway

Thanks. We have speed limits so fumbduckers can sit in the left lane going below them and force us to go around them and get tickets.

I knew they we're there for a reason! I always stay in sport mode, then if I ever see a cop, I bump it down a few gears...diving nose is a dead giveaway, but using the gears doesn't make it so obvious.

Yes plate number is on there for sure but apply plausible deniability.... Maybe the cop saw an X6 and thought it was you? Judge likely doesn't know the difference.

Might be worth a try.

The laser sensing aspect of the BirdDog...
So does the signal lights at some airports, etc.

Wishful thinking, no? I'm sure the ticket has a plate number on it and his DL info.
