Auto Transmission Question / Adaptation Values Reset

We have a 2006 E83 with 180,000kms. Did a transmission fluid change and new filter.

Current Errors:
54C6 oil wear
52D4 incremental transducer

Could not successfully reset for adaptation values using:
- key in position #2, depress gas for 30 sec, nothing happened and no beeping occurred indicating successful reset of values)

We replaced the transfer case at 150,000kms BTW

Has anyone successful performed the auto tranny adaptation values reset on the E83? I think all the posts I have found (and there's been many(!) I have read in the various BMW the forums) indicating the 'how to' don't seem to work for this car.
What should I try next?
