Power steering just suddenly

One day suddenly the power steering is "gone" I mean the 04 never gave me problems just came back from a day long trip. Cranked her up in the middle of the day yesterday and began to steer out of the garage and...wheel bearly turns...last week I checked the atf fluid and it was clean...heck I changed that fluid maybe a year ago! What gives? On quick inspection I couldn't see if the pimp was spinning.
The belt is basically new put it on at the start of the year.
Could the pump just have given up the ghost? No warning signs?
It doesn't squeel...
Have had the car not a good 2 years...rides nice just hit 200k at the middle of the month...maybe it's the matter of simply changing the pump?
