06 CPO running out

Hey guys, I have an 06, X3 CPO and will be running out of warantee in August... The truck has 81K and is pristine condition... and i have the extended maintenance warantee also...

Questions: What should I look for to go wrong as the warantee is out, I want to be proactive and get major things fixed before they should break... I have already gotten the rotors and brakes done,

what are some other Expensive parts can I have them look at???

thanks
ak

Warranty covers things after they break, not before. Just make sure you take it in for any obvious symptoms prior to warranty expiry.

If you have maintenance as well then you have some more areas to claim on but it is still based on things being worn out, not things that will wear out in future.

I would listen for noises or looseness in the suspension, and check underneath for leaks.

JCL, thanks..
This is what i am talking about, so, suspension and underneath for leaks, (they did replace the gasket)...

I know the earlier X3s had some issues with the rear springs where the pigtail end might break off, so checking the suspension might be a good idea. Also check that the moonroof works well with no leaks or curious noises.

Warranty usually only covers things that are broken (as JCL mentioned), not really preventative maintennace or wear-and-tear, but if you want to try the two areas above, might work out.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I am fully aware that it's not preventative maintenance, but I am getting a final opportunity to get things "looked" at while under warantee, before it's too late.

Thanks for the input.

Here's a list of things that went wrong on my 2004 X3 after my warranty went out...

Sunroof broke. One of the plastic sliders broke and the sunroof wouldn't close. Luckily I knew one of the service guys so he hooked me up and got it fixed for no cost to me.

Both rear pass and driver side drive dogs on the electric windows broke so the rear windows wouldn't roll up. The drive dogs are the plastic clips that connect to the wire that pulls the window up and down. Ordered the parts online and fixed it myself.

I got an oil leak on the valve cover on the passenger's side of the engine that leaked on the exhaust manifold. Also ordered the new gasket and sealant and did it myself. And since I had the valve cover off I swapped out the old spark plugs.

See if they'll replace the cabin air filter for you as well. And maybe grease up the rails in the windows since I find mine are squeaking when I roll up the windows.

Have them check the brake pad thickness too. Maybe also see if they'll replace the brake fluid if it was never changed.

Oh yeah, see if they'll flush out/replace the power steering fluid.

And heck... see if they'll change out the coolant and differentials and transfer case oils. I know they say they're "lifetime" but a bmw tech told me that's bunk and they should eventually be changed. Worth a shot.

If I can think of anything else I'll post it up. But hope that gets you started.

Good luck!
