e53 - TV amplifer and aftermarket DVB tuner

Hey guys,

I was having a couple of issues with my 2004 factory 16:9 headunit (analog TV but no nav) so I have changed it over to a new Android head unit. I purchased an extension power cable and extension Fakra antenna cable for the radio and that all works great. I have even got the factory reverse camera working with the unit.

The question I have, does anyone know how the factory TV tuner works?

I have bought a replacement Eonon DVB tuner and can get it to work with the antenna that come with it but want to use the factor antenna.
Eonon V0018 | Car DVB-T | DVB-T HD Digital TV Receiver Box
I bought some cable adapters so I can plug the original antenna cables that were plugged into the old analog tuner into the new DVB unit, but the signal is pretty much non existent.
These antenna worked great with the old tuner, so I am thinking I need to energise a TV signal amp or something like this? I am thinking maybe when the factory TV tuner is selected, it switches a signal amp on, the same way the radio switches on the radio signal amp.

Does anyone know how this works?
Anyone got a non-factory TV tuner working with the factory antenna?

Thanks,
Dale
