Anyone who doesn't agree with trader he calls a buffoon (this is the correct spelling btw), or refers to "strawman" or "witch hunt" or tells you to grow up, or inferences that this forum is referred of "fanboys" who "hold BMW up to be a god", etc, I can go on. And in 90% of his 900 posts to this point he refers in some way to the "crap window regulators" which no one can forget that he has had to deal with.
Question is, if he isn't contributing positively to this forum, why do we want him to remain here? If I wanted to join a BMW bashing forum I'd join Consumer Reports, we actually like our vehicles here, and like to plan preventative maintenance schedules, and keep our vehicles and not just come on here to complain. Maybe his Ashley Madison account got leaked and he is grumpy about it and needs to vent?

^Some may think that is excessive... and some may not. I am in the latter. Some have early failures... some have never had a failure. One (or two, three, four, or a hundred) particular failure reports on forums does not indicate a part's reliability in terms of the overall number of units out there. I am constantly amazed at how many E53's I see running around... so they can't be all that unreliable and full of junky parts. They can't all be owned by enthusiasts or rich people who can do/pay for the work and parts that are "constantly" failing.I think that's why you see the hostility Trader. It's not that we are fan boys or anything, but that there is no REAL reason to call the parts crap. It sucks you've experienced a ton of failures... but had you bought a different X5 it's possible you would have had no failures. Just a thought.

As for BMW putting crap plastic and seeing failures of it in expansion tanks... like I said, this is a forum. You are going to see the failures. No random owner pops in to say "Hi guys, new here, just signing it to say my expansion tank just ticked 200,000 miles. Have a good day." BMW doesn't have to design a part to last 200,000 miles... they design it to last 100,000 and then the typical BMW buyer will buy a new one. People like you, me, and the others on the forum are not necessarily BMW's target audience. But they do make cars that drive fantastically well and so we have to deal with changing certain parts when they fail or preventatively. It's always been that way with certain parts. No one complains about a timing belt service interval do they? As for the regulators... those are a common failure in many vehicles. Obviously some more than others. But literally just a few minutes ago I got a text from a buddy who replaced his second window regulator on his C5 vette. So it happens... that's just the way it is. You attract the hostility in the way you deliver your posts. And your extreme stubborn nature keeps fanning the flames. I don't know why people are focusing on age in your case... I've seen some pretty immature 50 year olds. It's not limited to younger people. But if you take a second to answer your own question about why you're attracting the hostility... you should be able to come up with the answer.

I agree with all of your post's points and stated one or two of them in the post you quoted.

OK its time to let it go now. Everyone has had their chance to play nicely.
The site is for sharing experiences, resolving ownership challenges of vehicles long out of any factory warranty. The parts are what they are. The high failure ones will bring out the aftermarket, who will either engineer improved materials or they will build cheaper ones to capitalize on those owners and shops that focus on price over anything else. Long term owners make up most of us. Newbies will come in for a quick tip and will move on. So it makes no sense to crying about parts designed some 12+ years ago. Parts fail, some more than others, some owners get vehicles that eat parts (the reasons-- see owners and vehicles for details). Gee, what a concept.

Rather than occasionally posting negative comments you occasionally post some constructive remarks. You can scream, stomp your feet and roll on the floor and claim otherwise but that is your history. Several have offered advise about the purpose of the forum and how to be a constructive member. As time has passed and you have chosen to continue being caustically negative and more members have challenged you. I would expect that to continue as long as you continue your methods. No one is out to get you, you are committing suicide. Just like a negative brain won't give a happy life, caustic negativity will not give you positive feedback. As you have said many times--your choice.
