Red means not connected. Nothing lit up means it's connected. Green means you are in a call.

If you don't see bmwxxxx, I suggest you get the car scanned with a gt1, and get the codes for the module.

And you can also rename the module and change the 4 digit pin code via PA soft.

Sorry to hi jack, I have done all of the above steps, including pulling fuses. I have also used my BMW scanner to scan the module, everything is blank, no info. Does this mean the module is dead? Thanks you

No it does not. Scan with gt1, computer will know if the module is there, and what the malfunction is. Now sure what BMW scanner is capable of.

It shows on the scanner. It says unit in MTS mode. Not sure what that is. I have tried to reset nothing

Did you install an upgraded TCU/ULF from a later BMW? I ask because none of the BMWs you have listed were built when BMW started installing Bluetooth capable units. The X5 didn't get integrated BT until the 10/04 build date.

And you may want to edit your signature because you have a 2001 X4 listed...which means either the model year is wrong or the model is wrong. There was no X4 back in 2001.

Nope. My car is a 2006 4.8is. The 2001 "X4" was sold years ago.
