Subscribed. I have been itching to pull the trigger on one of these. My pixel s are going south on my oem nav. The only thing that is holding me back, is my Sirius Xm module doesn't integrate and xm is a must for me. I gotta figure out a clean install for an xm receiver I guess. Keep us posted and pics would be a nice bonus.

I have installed the 8Gb memory version of this unit about 10 months ago. You will need to remove some plastic framework to get the unit to fit, but I believe it is all worth it. You do need to remove the MID or relocate it. I have read some shifted it to the glovebox, however I fitted mine in the space occupied by the navigation and or cd changer in the left rear (not fitted in my X5). I was able to find the relevant power, ground and buss wiring. I did not have DSP. I fitted a reversing camera at the same time, and also added a wifi usb modem to the power outlet near the glovebox. The unit connects on power up to the modem. I run a dashboard overlay on the android which gives speed, weather, basic gps info as well as short cut icons to the apps I run routinely. Also came with gps program, but I prefer google mapping as I am internet connected. GPS antenna fits perfectly on top of dashboard speaker. I also ran an external microphone and fitted it behind the factory slotted panel on the overhead light panel. Phone call speech quality is my only real complaint. The external mic stays in parallel with the unit mic, which is physically on the wrong side for us living down under and driving on the right hand side. Phone call speech reception is fine through vehicle speakers. Aussie dollar makes the units more expensive for us now, but 10 months ago it wasn't too bad. 16 Gb is a definite requirement as I have had to delete some apps I would like due to lack of base memory. Hope this helps anyone considering.

Hey Neil, connecting the MID in the boot: were the connectors just there where the CD changer would sit, and you just plugged it in?

No, the connector wasn't there. I used the original connector by noting the position and colours of the wires and pins, then released them from the connector. I found the relevant wires on another connector at the rear, released the pins from that connector, and clicked them into place to mirror the wiring as it was at the dash. I plugged it in and it works fine. The spacing of the rear left mounting frame was close to perfect, the MID just slides in and with a bit of force at the end, clicks in. I did remove the original knob, as the hatch cover just brushes the front of the unit when it situ. The MID has all functionality, (clock, timers, fuel mileage etc) which would be lost if the MID is not re-installed somewhere. The head unit advertisements fail to warn customers of such.

Thanks, that's awesome! I'll have to look into this, as I have mine in the glovebox at the moment and it would be much nicer to move it to the rear.
