New Wheels... Wheels Arrived! Wheel Pron Page 6

Allright guys, finally putting a nice set of wheels on the 4.8is and couldn't settle for just a set of replicas like I put on the old 4.4i. I like this truck too much and even my wife didn't want to throw some heavy cheapo wheels on it.

Soooooo... with Modbargains/Forgestar running some decent Cyber Week deals I ran across the Forgestar CF5V. I was debating between the F14 and CF5V but the wife liked the latter better... and gave me the okay on getting them in a brushed face/charcoal barrel finishing. After $300 Forgestar discount and $50 Modbargains code +$200 finish charge +shipping the total was $1898.95. I don't have experience with custom wheels, but that seemed like a decent deal to me on a set of custom wheels that will be lighter than factory.

I ordered them in 20x9.5 fronts and 20x11 rears. The offsets are, within reason, whatever I want them to be. They are going to contact me this week to discuss fitment desires and that led me to some questions.

Question 1: How big of a tire difference diameter is tolerated by the Xdrive? The factory size tires have no difference in rolling diameter.

I want to run wider tires in the rear... leaning towards 335's. Unfortunately I can't find a front size in a reasonable width in an equal overall diameter. Sooooo... I might have to go with 285/40/20's fronts and 325/35/20's rears which have an equal overall diameter. If there is a tolerance in overall diameter by the Xdrive it would change the above.

Question 2: What offsets would get me as close to fender flush on the tire, not the wheel. For the fronts I was leaning towards a +42 which, combined with the extra 5mm of tire width (assuming 285 series tire), would end up pretty close I think since the stock tire sits ~8mm inside the fender according to my measurements.

The rears are harder to calculate since the wheel size is changing a tad. Luckily wheel/tire size calculators are pretty good these days. I'm thinking of going with a +24 on the 11" wheel as it's the lowest available offset for that wheel. The stock tire sits 25mm inside the top of the fender flare. So, I should be gaining 6mm from the wheel and 5mm more from the tire if my thinking is correct. It could be wrong... I've been looking through so much wheel and tire info/pricing/etc that I could be fried. Which is the reason for this post.

With the tire sizes chosen ($$$$$$) my speedo would be a little further off since it's currently generous by ~2-5mph depending on speed. Not by much though... less than 1mph most likely. Let me know what you guys think of the above... and if I got something wrong, let me know.

And here are the wheels:

This is the finish I chose. Can't find a picture of the CF5V in this finish though... so this is the F14.
