Updates?
i have a 4.6is 2002 trans is blown.
i also have a 5.3 lsx engine pcm and 4l80e trans.
if 2WD will this be huge cgallenge comunication to all other computers on the X5? i can make the lsx run with no issues just abs on the x will not work correct?

I think making AWD work would have been feasible with the 80E trans. Get a t-case and a front driveshaft from a 2500 and it would be a decent start....trying to get a front diff to work is another story now that I think about it.

ABS should still work but functions such as traction control etc would not work. You could incorporate them with Megasquirt etc but not with BMW's factory system.

Good to see you've come over to the E53 side. I'm sure you and your wife will love it. Estoril Blue 4.6is's are awesome! They are basically a lifted AWD E39. Looking forward to watching your E38 project unfold as well.

Any updates please?

Ha no deaths here. My wife just had a baby 3 weeks ago so have been not spending much time in the barn. I did however buy a new set of Square Style 87 Rep's 20x10.5 and wrapped them in a fresh set of 315/35/R20's. It will have the awesome stance than PANZER had on his Black 4.6IS. Also snagged a set of front fender arch add-ons. Setting money aside for BC Racing Suspension and did the Trans Go HD Shift Kit on the 4L80 but have yet to come across a deal on a Billet Torque Converter. Ebay Trans Cooler purchased as well. Snagged a set of used 823 heads and will have LJMS spec me a Turbo Cam. The mounts should only take a weekend to create so sourcing parts has been my main priority the wiring is very similar to the E39 and can retain factory functioning gauges.
