Thanks all. It's certainly been one of my favorite mods as of yet. Enjoy it every time i see the truck. Went through torrential rains and all seems well... So far anyway. Supposed to get more rain this week so hopefully all stays well.

I'll post a full diy after i get back from Florida in a few weeks, but no dremel was used to cut the housing or lens to open. Used a heat gun to heat up the plastic and then cut through with a sharp razor blade.

The led rings are from hid.lighting in eBay... But these rings are too large and require a fair amount of cutting to the black shrouds to work. They look amazing, but a slightly smaller set would be better.

Never would have known you cut the housing had you not mentioned it. Looks extremely clean and OE+.

Great job, looks 9 out of 10.

Install stealth bulbs to lose the "egg yoke" turn bulbs and it's a 10.

I think he mentioned earlier that he likes it with this look. I think his mod looks great overall. Very factory, 10+

Thanks again guys. We've been surprised by how much the headlight work has changed the way the vehicle looks in terms of age. Feels much younger now visually. Seeing at night has also been much better. Did have the transfer case actuator gear fail on me I believe though as I have the tell-tale clicking sound after shutting the truck off right around the front diff/trans area. I'll probably have it repaired at a good indy in Miami since we will be there for 6 days. I would hate to drive it back with the DSC, 4x4, and ABS lights on, much less losing the traction control and ABS in case of an emergency. I've got the lube ready, but does anyone know generally how much this repair should cost? I'd do it myself obviously but being on vacation doesn't allow for that. Other than that the X5 has performed admirably. The suspension work and wheel/tire package makes it ride excellently. Haven't been getting as good a mileage as I was hoping though. Averaging about 19mpg.

Correct. I do prefer the egg yolk look. Call me crazy.

Here are some pics. Sorry the truck was so dirty, but the road trip, rain, and lack of time kept me from cleaning it before snapping pictures. Still looks okay I think.

The repair for your transfer actuator gear could be free.

Post 13 here.

That was in 2012. I'm still driving on that flipped gear 4 years and 20k miles later.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, my aunt and uncle recently sold their house for a high rise condo. As a result i have no where to work on the truck. 😒 I would but another etorx set to fix it if i had somewhere to get under it... Or a way to safely lift it.
