Unfortunately, E70 models are becoming cheaper and our E53's are..... getting dirt cheap now!

Hopefully you get what you want for it.

Best of luck selling it. I agree with upallnight on the value at that mileage. Better keep it

Sorry to hear, getting 35% back on 27k investment seems likely if the buyer is enthusiast. Otherwise l see it get offers around 7k(25%). High mileage bmw scares a lot of buyers.

I had a chance to buy an Imola Red 02 about 4 months ago with 62k miles for 12.5k. A dealer was selling it and I thought I would play the waiting game to get him to lower the price to around 10k. It sold that weekend.

During that time, I looked at as on cargurus.com and autotrader and saw the is for sell from a low of 9000 all the way to 13k for a 90kish example with major engine work and a new transmission etc.

I agree with your comments... i have had my 01 X5 with 195k miles for sale for $3k for month now and people are offering me $1500. Interestingly enough, when i had all the service listed, i barely had anyone call and after a friends suggestion, i removed the service info and calls/text of low ballers started to come in.

Champagne taste, beer budget.

I was going to shoot for retail plus $3k to start. Its literally like new under the hood. The only things not replaced are the transmission and the transfer case.

I was looking at the pilot in that pic too. I feel a kingship to him/her. (not syre if Russia has female fighter pilots)

Asking what we have in it would be crazy. lol I'm not trying to break even. I think just appropriately priced so it's not a total disaster.

It's funny. If I installed the dynavin radio I bet she'd fall in love with it again. I see engineering, she sees cup holders.

Most people do not know the difference between the 4.6 and 4.4 M62. Whoever buys it will be someone that wants that model. That is why I bought mine. I wanted a limited production e53 with a unique engine. And the fact the oil filter is on top and the cig lighter stays hot was a huge plus.

Not everyone wants a turbo engine that comes with every new BMW these days and the E53 X's have more of the BMW steering feel that used to be common in all of their cars all the way to the onset of the "f" platforms.

He may find the right enthusiast that recognizes the value of great service, repair and care for the X5. 3 weeks ago I just sold my 99 540it wagon with 178K on the clock and it went for full listing price. It was the condition of the vehicle, maintenance, records and how well the vehicle drove that cemented the sale. You are right that a number of bottom feeders came through the craigslist channel it was easy to send them away especially after telling them that this is not the car for you. There were a number of people that wanted to offer low baller prices and had not even seen the car. I had a firm price and took appointments only for the car. The people who made the appointments were serious ones. The vehicle sold within 48 hours of posting. The first person that came by wanted to give me 1/3 deposit and the rest of the funds in 10 days. I was like I have a number of appointments for this weekend lets see what happens after the weekend if its still for sale. The second person came, drove the vehicle and paid for it on the spot.
