If you have a factory NAV screen with DVD brain in the rear side compartment then you will need to run the 5 meter cable which is the biggest pain in the Ar$e of the whole upgrade. Crystalworks did a write up using the passenger side channel for his cable and my write up shows me coming up the driver side rear and then up the middle through the console. Whichever you choose looks to be equally painful. ![]() ![]() Mike

I removed mine today. Punting that shit back to HK (not really, luckily they have a US warehouse for returns).
The system would be much better if: 1) It had significantly more ram. Currently it struggles with running multiple apps. Don't even think about trying to run Waze and Pandora at the same time. 2) Had two more mounting screws in the bottom of the unit. In the nav equipped cars, we have no brackets and instead the nav screws into four spots located around the perimeter of the unit. The eonon only has two screw hole up top, So the bottom half constantly wants to fall out of the dash. 3) Had better illumination. This thing is way too bright at night. It doesn't auto dim based on ambient lighting or time of day. Maybe it would have worked with my light switch, but I am pretty sure it was missing the correct illumination wire in the harness. 4) It had a better rom. Whomever wrote the rom for this is bad at android. Example, the radio app still plays when you try to switch to another music source. You need to turn off the radio app first before switching. Aside from those, I also had an alternator whine, unusable microphones (both built in and external), and the radio station presets kept resetting. I do not recommend

It's amazing reading the different issues or successes everyone has with their eonon, even though most of us have the same model. For example, my eonon works like advertised, the only issue i had was connecting and pulling the harness from the boot. Eonon's guide was pretty useless. Oh my radio reception is non existent BUT I haven't investigated that thoroughly yet so I won't blame eonon...for now.
I think, like Mike said earlier, eonon keep updating/changing/tweaking the software which results in almost all of us experiencing the same model very differently. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Just installed a GA6166 and real happy with the results. I'm non-NAV, so the wiring was super simple. It really is plug and play, with no cables to run -- except if you want rear cam. Followed glassjoe's guide in #104 - a real help!
![]() Took awhile dremeling out the frame, but once done, I plugged in the main cable, antennas and the software "box" just as a test, but found I was quickly up and running including steering wheel controls. Definitely more power than my stock system with real good reception. Spent the ride into work this morning testing things out - radio, streaming, DVD all work. Now just customizing my interface settings, figuring out NAV, and getting Torque up and running. For the huge step up in functionality, I can deal with an occasional s/w issue. Adding rear cam soon. |

Drove 850 miles today with my Eonon GA6166 and upgraded speakers.
Hot spot Spotify and iGo Navigation and the Browser working without any issues. Love the total upgraded sound and functionality. Calls came through and I used the internal mic on the unit without issues reported by any callers. Was cool to bring up tire monitor to see the 4-5psi increase in pressures at cruise speeds. Mike

Here is a new photo of my fitment after using a different set of screws (actually JL Audio speaker screws) that screwed down into the Eonon frame and slightly into the factory retainers.
What this did was allow a little offset/setback (longer screws) from the factory frame point and allowed the Eonon to sit a little more forward at the top which for me, prevented the lower edge gap that I was previously experiencing. Mike

Hi OF,
Yes, they are approximately 1" in length and about 1/8"diameter. They literally were ones I had laying around unused from my speaker upgrade. When placed in the Eonon frame the threads grabbed quite well and I used that fact to my advantage to allow the screw to be my frame "adjuster" mechanism as well. Mike
