I am going to have my indy place give it a good once over next week.
Check the aux air pump that is on passenger side near the bottom close to the fender well. It can rattle and whirr but the whirring stops after a minute or so after a cold start. Will need to use a stethoscope, hose or something to get a ear full to be sure.

What size tires are those in the rear? they dont look to be 315s? Unless the picture just makes them look a little smaller

315/35/20

The noise I hear only happens for about 1/2 second at initial startup right after the engine fires. And not all the time either. Could be the starter too.

Loving it so far. Put about 200 miles on it so far. There was a rattle but it's the rear lower hatch cover that rests agains the hatch and pivots when you fold the bottom section down. Just wedged a towel in for now but will sound deaden or something.

Got the ECS grills

Looking good. Sorry to the LeMans guys... but I think Estoril is my favorite blue on an E53.

Those ECS black kidney grilles look pretty sweet with all the other black trim bits the 4.6 has. How's the fitment on them? I'm thinking of getting a set for my 4.6 when it gets here.

Hey RVAE34 - welcome. Funny enough your E38 thread was one of the inspirations for picking up my 750il. I traded my 4.4 E53 for it after I bought my 4.8is. Love the attention to detail you put in your cars - eager to see it translated to the 4.6.
