Sure!! I can understand that... It saves me from purchasing yet another X5, although I do have my eye on that Gray Green sport version for sale locally... Even has the running boards already installed... Ahhhhhhhh... Decisions decisions...

Cheers all!!

YES!!!!! It lives. Awesome job man. Other than the few hiccups you mentioned how do you feel about it overall?

I think the 4.6 needs to be next......

It does indeed!! Thanks!!! And I am loving it more and more every day!! It appears the DME is learning and the power is getting better thru the entire range... I still will swap the Air Flow Sensor when I get to the YPIY tomorrow or the next day... I have to get a few drive shaft items for modification at Carolina Driveline of Spartanburg... And I want to pull a spare cross member to get cleaned up for the next patient... I'll do the plugs and swap out my spare set of coils, just for SAGs soon... I thought about dropping the clutch today, but......... I better ease into seeing it's full potential... I still have a lower control arm that is complaining it's ready to die... I'll get that swapped as soon as Red (4.6is) is done with it's surgery... Coolant leaking Alt and failing power steering required replacement of the PS pump and Alt...

It could still use some tweaking with the shifter... It works really well, but I think there is much room for improvement... I just need to figure out a cost effective way to get it working and "looking" great...

Ahhhhhhhh.... I think the 4.6is needs to be next... It is just the obvious candidate on so many levels... I'll be gathering all my parts, cleaning up the operating room, and double-checking all my notes... Now it is more about turn-around time... And method of operation... I'll keep everyone posted!!!

Thanks again!!!!

Cheers!!!!

Good work! I've been following your thread for a good while, and I'm glad to see it runs and goes through the gears. This would be great in a sport model or a 4.6is or something

I wonder how long the rear sub frame bushings will last on this torque monster I know the 3.0 5MT's like to tear them up, I can't imagine what the V8 would do!

Keep up the great work and keep posting videos!

Thanks!! I think the 4.6is is next... I wish I had one that didn't have any previous damage... I got this one with the slight issue on the right front corner and it was a little worse than I initially figured when I got in there and tore it apart... BUT.... I want a blue one eventually anyway...

Sub-frame bushings huh.... Hmmmmm... I wonder if it is due to the rear end gears being so low (numerically bigger)?? Think the 3.0's all have 4.10's... I have 3.64's... I'll just have to keep an eye on them... I guess the fact that all the torque going to the back won't help much either...

Ahhhh, about the movies... I took a video on the way home from work yesterday morning and I need to flip it... I don't understand why it is recording in the correct aspect, but the computer won't adjust using the camera settings... So, the video is sideways... I have discovered ALL the "FREE" video editing software (that I tried) is NOT "FREE"... One wouldn't deal with MP4... One puts a watermark unless you purchase the package... the other won't let you save the edited version, so it's done, but sitting in the program format that is unusable for youtube... Some I just could not figure out to save my life... I think it is time I just go buy a basic program from Bestbuy or Walmart... No subscriptions, no ads, no yearly fees, support if needed, and it'll come with an instruction manual!!! And just be done with it... My computer should have come with Windows Movie Maker, but I can't find it or get it from microsoft anymore... Frustrating...

Thanks again!!!

Cheers!!

You're correct about the 3.0's gear ratio being 4.10. They scream pretty good on the highway and top out at about 125mph @ redline (which isn't very good for the oil pump nut). Maybe the higher gearing will bring some of that mechanical advantage down? But correct me if I'm wrong, the 4.4 puts down like 320 ft/lbs of torque?? That's a bit more than the 215 ft/lbs that the 3.0 has. Even with Higher gears I think some of the suspension issues with the Manual 3.0's will now effect your machine. You may want to start reading up on the manual registry with some of the issues now that you're part of the family!

I was just about to say something about Windows Movie Maker. I read this from somewhere on the interweb: "Movie Maker was officially removed for download on January 10, 2017. Unlike other Windows Essentials apps, Movie Maker was not replaced or succeeded by anything else. Microsoft then announced that Movie Maker will be replaced with Story Remix, a new video editor" . That's a shame, I wonder why they decided to discontinue?

If you plan on doing more of these manual swaps maybe it wouldn't hurt to get something like adobe premier and sticking the whole build on youtube. I hear some of those professional youtubers make Big $$$ from the ads

Can't you do some basic editing within YouTube? I seem to recall posting a video that somehow ended up upside down and YouTube had the ability to flip it.

I have replaced the rear subframe bushings on an E53 and it's not too bad. Especially for someone who just converted and automatic to a manual! I bought the special tool. You are welcome to borrow it if you need to do a replacement.
