Sensor or Gauge issue??

So I just upgraded my gauge cluster, everything seemed to be working fine. I filled up my gas tank, started up the car it it showed 3/4 full.

I figured that the gas nozzle was too far into the fill tube, so I went back out and put another gallon in...then gauge read 7/8ths full.

I did test NR 02 and the gauges sweeps properly. I then ran NR 06 and the dash displayed this:

TNK: 46.8/17.9/64.7L
TNKANZ: 64.8L Phase 1

Is anyone able to interpret this? And/direct me to the issue. Never had issues with the gauges before this.

Thanks all!

Upgraded from what to what?

The IKE has specific data coded to it based on the cars ZKE/ZCS coding. If your fuel gauge isn't registering correctly...then try an IKE reset (TEST 21). This starts a new baseline for a full tank and the data each fuel level sendor sends to the IKE.

If you install new fuel level sensors...you need to do a reset (OBC TEST 21)...since you installed a new cluster (we don't know what it came from)...perhaps a reset will correct whatever error the IKE is receiving...especially if it came from something other than an e53.

The 1st screen in TEST 6 in your quote reveals the data from:
the left fuel level sensor/the right fuel level sensors/and the approx total amount of fuel in the tank
Unlike it's generational cousins, the e53 doesn not have an equally bifurcated fuel tank...the left side (driver's side is larger than the right side). On the sedans (e38/e39/e46) the fuel tank's left & right sides would show approx equal values on a full tank.

The 2nd screen in TEST 6 reveals the:
approx amount of fuel left in the tank & either Phase 1, 2, or 3
Phase 1 = both fuel sensors are sending data and are OK
Phase 2 = fuel calculation in progress...the data signal may be faulted
Phase 3 = fuel tank contents can't be computed, fuel gauge reads "0", one or more sensors may be faulted

Thanks I will try the reset.

Upgraded from the standard 4.4i dash to the 4.6 dash with oil temp gauge and orange lights on the tach.

Got it thanks, I will hook up the labtop. I did the reset but am not sure if it solved anything...gotta burn through some gas to verify.
