Soooooo - I think we are on to something here boys - 2 sets of midbasses from JL, 2 sets of Midranges from Memphis, and a set of Tweeters from JL makes for the "poor man's BSW" of 2017

I'm just trying to get my Midbasses from JL right - Prop used a 6.5" JL Audio, Jay you used a 6" one?

RB I take it you can use either one since prop verified with a little trimming that he could get the JL 6.5s to work. The ones I installed are direct fit JL 6 inch speakers that require no outer ring modifications.

OK great Jay - If you could send me link to the direct fit 6" ones that would be great (and if they come also in a nice pack with the tweeters I would need that would be great as well) - and I'll source the Memphis Audio midranges or look into other 2.75" midranges for the rear doors and dash

I'm going your route X53Jay with the JL C2-600s in all four doors and the C2-075 tweeters in the doors as well.

I got the Memphis units coming for the dash.

I'll run these on the stock OE Factory Nav/HiFi system until I get up the nerve and dough to do the Eonon GA6166 Head Unit install.

Hey- you willing to fiddle with your stock sub? If you are, I took mine apart last night. I discovered that if I can find smaller subs that'll fit, we might have yet another dimension to improve on the cheap. If you're up for it, I may look for a set that'll fit, put it together and send it to you for your thoughts. If it works, that'd be awesome.

I am not sure if my mother in law's '01 has a sub. If it does, I may start there just to ease the logistics. But it would be fun to see if this will work.

OK. I have guests from out of town this weekend and a San Antonio drive for next week. This may take some time to become real, but it's not due to a lack of interest! Moohahahahha

Back from San Antone last night. I have serious doubts this will even work, but for such cheap cost and a little time, I figure, WTF not, rt?

More information as I remember (by looking) whether my mother in law has a stock sub.

What is the Model Number of the Pyles?

Did they mount right in to the existing screw mounting positions or was mod-ing required?

Ohhh yeah- mod req'd. And it's not pretty. New screw holes, lots of silicon (black this time). I didn't even trim the speakers to lay flat.

I should have soldered the wires instead of just replacing the small connectors on the wires, but I'm just futzing. If it doesn't function, I'll go back and try again.

They're dual voice coil Pyles. The stock speakers are also dual voice coil. I'll get the part #'s later.
