Everything I read says that if you are going to lower impedance but the drivers are more efficient, it negates any extra amp draw since it is using power more efficiently? But I don't have a confirmation of this.

However, I am debating sticking with 8 ohm Dayton Audio woofers, and leaving the other 6 at a lower 4 ohm. Will this make a difference keeping 40% of the drivers at stock impedance levels? The 8 ohm Dayton woofers are 88.7 db sensitivity, while the JL components and 4 ohm Dayton woofers are 92db efficient.

I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure this audiophile shit out.
RB I think your over thinking this but your have to feel confident with this. BSW takes the impedence down to 3.2 ohms (when they used speakers built by Rainbow) on the earlier speaker sets and 4 ohms (MB Quart) on the later ones. Those BSW speakers have been running for quite some time in E53 X5s with no adverse outcomes.

Thanks Jay you do make me feel better. And I think part of it is not just impedance but efficiency and these JL drivers are very efficient.

Part of my problem between doing upgrades is I sit around and get indecisive while I wait for the time to do them lol!
