Yes sir. I would love to have that combo. They stopped offering it after the 4.6is. 4.8is got much more boring interior options.

Yeah, that's such a fantastic combo. I've noticed BMW tends to do some really odd and wonderful things with new products before remembering they're German once it takes off.

The reason I am so set on my 4.6is is I have already had so much fun with my wife's 4.8is (vgs, valve covers, Alt Bracket, trans etc) that I am trying to locate a less problematic E53 that won't have the VGS issues. At the same time I am trying to avoid buying a boring E70. The options of the more modern E70 are tempting but I love the look of the E53 and especially the 4.6is.

Your 4.8is was in fairly good shape but the transmission was doing some strange things and it did smoke when I was using it as a dealership driver after you traded it in.

It wasn't horrid but the smoking got a bit extreme in the summer.
