I don't follow- how could an inspection camera fit inside the valve?

If I take out the plugs- will I get a view inside the valve and be able to definitively see if the PIN is there?
If you look at the other valve in the picture it has the same stuff. Now a pin can only go down one valve, not two valves.

The camera was just too large to fit inside the valves (even at the bottom of their stroke). I did look very closely in their (naked eye). Is it likely that I would have seen the DISA PIN from looking down the spark plug holes anyway?

And still I cannot find the DISA PIN. Where else could i check?
Did you inspect the tops of the pistons through the spark plug holes?

I guarantee its easier than the official tool.

The official tool is nothing more than a steel bar with two holes that line up with nuts on the fan clutch (with a bite missing so it fits around the clutch body) easy to fabricate. I was going to make my own until I found a YouTube video showing the method I use.

It wouldn't hurt to have a string attached to the wrench in case it came off but there is so little room I'm not sure it's even possible. Obviously the wrench had to be long enough to clear the intake scoop.

First time I removed the fan was to change the thermostat. I've had it off about 3-4 times. It's easy enough to remove I take it off for some elbow room most recently when I DIY refurbished my alternator ($20 kit vs $325 replacement: replaced the slip rings and brushes).

The trickiest part is bringing the shroud up at the same time and finding any mystery clips holding it on.

Since the OP is from down under the cars are RHD. The fan clutch has LH threads so in order to remove the fan clutch, as you look at the engine bay from in front of the car it should be righty loosey, just the opposite of RH threads which is righty tighty.

Yep, inspected through the tops of the spark plug holes too, whilst turning the engine to see some better angles.

No luck.

I don't think I need to remove the fan clutch any more- as I was able (with difficult) to turn the engine with it in.

Sounds like that pill didn't fall into the engine.

Whoa- so no where else it could have gotten to? I'll have to quadruple check each spark plug hole then with the inspection camera-just to be sure.

Is there any more advice for me to do/check (given my misfires on cyclinders) before I put the intakeback on?

I followed a video guide to get the intake off.

In the video, it shows what (I think) a solenoid and vacuum line on the back of the intake.

There is also no place for the plug in the photo too (which also gets mentioned in the video).

My engine doesn't seem to have the solenoid, nor the vacuum lines....

Should my engine have it?

The photo is taken from the back of my intake
