He's a V8. Like Csoerensen89 but he has an M62. Also, the M54 Oil temp sensor part # 13621433076 is combined with H2O sensor. It is a different part than the V8's. This looks like the culprit.

Here's mine from 2 weeks ago:

Yes that’s the current version.

The issue with the V8's appears to be that the oil temp sensor is integrated into the oil level/quality sensor in the pan. It looks like the sensor does not provide the IBus with temp so the app won't read what it cannot.

You guys still liking this unit? Thinking about it rather than trying to replace my BM53. Seems nicer than Seicane or Dynavin.

I'll ask the same question.

I just bought two 2002 E53 4.6is X5's needing timing chains. One has the Nav unit, and the other has the business CD (I think that's what it's called). The Nav unit works fine, but it looks like it's from the, well...early 2000's. The business CD unit has all the pixels all screwed up which, in my opinion, is not worth fixing.

I've been looking at all of the available replacement units on the market, and the Avin Avant 3 stands out head and shoulders above the rest (to me, anyway). Are you guys still liking this unit? Any issues...?

I think 2.1.0.1 is the latest I-Bus version.

No issue for me with accurate oil temps

The app has really come a long way and even includes speed sensitive volume adjustment.

Great Video - Other options?

I like Avin, I'll start by saying that. However, I've seen the INAV unit which appears to use your existing radio, but with a screen mounted on the dashboard somehow.

I guess I'm wondering how on earth I would install this and part of the motivation for getting a new unit is because the current head unit really doesn't work right any longer. It has lost a lot of its pixels and you can't turn it on and off with the button on any longer. I'm looking for thoughts.

This INAV unit is available from 4x4 Canada.

Get the Avin Avant 4. Money well spent.

That’s the likely plan

I’m going to try the Avant 4 on my E46 M3 and go from there. The INAV has a really nice LG screen, but Avin has been around a lot longer.

If you don't mind posting it publicly, what options (which are many) did you go with and what was you total cost?

I am looking at this unit as well. I have NAV and DSP and the factory unit is now totally dead. Looks like the cost for what I want is close to $500? Does that sound right?

And do you need to use their NAV maps or will the factory NAV work with the unit? I would want to upgrade to the latest maps available.
