The tire manufacturer has no idea about the car the tire will eventually be mounted to...so they only give a max inflation warning not to exceed based only on the tires design specs and safety.

Always start with the vehicle's manufacturers recommendation then adjust to your personal preferences...making adjustments that suit your driving style & other preferences. Just remember not to exceed the max inflation warning on the sidewall.
Worrying that nearly every tire repair / sale place pumps em up way over what is written on the placard...

Just from my years of experience, I'v tended to inflate about 3 lbs. over what the vehicle mfgr recommends on the door sticker. I have found that to give me adequate traction and relatively even tire wear.

Interestingly, my youngest boy took a job with one of the major tire retailers. In discussing tire pressures, I told him my thoughts and he said that was exactly what they do at the tire store.

AM.

Appreciate reply , when you say lbs you mean psi?

Thanks
This will stop approx 45 “my tire store/my dealer/ my xxx recommended xx PSI”
I worked for Goodyear Tire when first got out of college, at that time the shops pumped everything to 32psi. No one looked in the door jam. Now days every car has at least 3 different engines, suspension options, tire sizes, etc.
The only path for long term ownership of tire wear is to pick the setting recommended for your average load. Measure the tire wear center and BOTH shoulders in a few spots on each tire/ axle and adjust accordingly.
By the why, pumping up/down the tires to provide XX driving feelings will give you what you are looking for may create a tire load well beyond safe psi settings.
“Too hard? “Too soft?”Reduce/increase to xx psi, not a good path unless you don’t mind heavy tire wear to get you that feeling.
Most manufacturers have shoulder wear marks to help you adjust for hard driving situations.
The 4.6 & 4.8 vehicles get big tires and chew them up with ease.

I'm at a high elevation and I'm not sure if that has any play on the pressures but if inpump my factory 20" tires to 32psi in the rear, then the middle of my tires wears very fast. I reduce mine to 28psi and get better even wear. Fronts I leave at 32 psi

Thanks.
My 4.8is chewed through a set of rears at 10K running 35PSI with one person. I am working my way down the scale to 32 PSI (BAR 2.206322334) now. soon to be at 28/30 psi I can see. Big fat tires, high vehicle weight, hard acceleration runs at WOT = short tire life. These things are a blast. Cost of smiles per miles....
