True. Especially with these cars that not many people are holding on to them, because of the N62 and ZF 6HP potential issue.

My guess is they won't even roll it out to production. Won't be worth the time for any potential profit. Are any of kits on an AWD platform? That's really the only place I see an issue coming up is the transmission being able to hold up the power

The 5er was available in Xi form with the V8 I believe.
Don't see the tranny being a problem. It can handle the torque.
It's rated to handle up to 850Nm. That's just over 600 lbft

Rumor: New ESS N62 SC

6HP19 max input is 230, 320 or 400Nm TC depended the.
6HP26 max is 440 or 600
6HP28 max is 440, 600 or 650
The 6HP32 can take 750 Nm

We just have to find out which TC our trucks have.

https://www.zf.com/southamerica/en_b....shtml#tabs1-1

I suspect the 600Nm 26 is what the E70 diesels come with and the 440 is ours. I can't find what ours has tho

Edit: I take that back. Ours must be the 600Nm TC since we come stick with 320 lb ft stock. Which is under 440, 433Nm.

1st gen Bentley GTC had a 6HP26A and a Torsten awd setup and made 650 N⋅m (479 lbft)
So I think it's safe to say the tranny can handle the juice.

According to realoem my 4.8is has an ATC500 Transfer Case.

Also I read an article on the N62 and is it true the 4.8 has forged crank and a forged cracked rod end cap?! This would be freaking awesome!!!

I thought BMW put forged cranks in everything.

I don't think this would be $5000... if it sees the light of day. I hope it does but would expect to pay closer to $8000. Still something I would "consider" but nothing that would make it anywhere near the top of a priority list. If by some miracle it were $5000... I might have to have a conversation or two with the wife.

I was very tempted to add an ESS kit when I had my M5. For the cost it was hard to pass up - but once you go down that rabbit hole, it never ends. I would've been too paranoid and would want upgraded brakes and the thought of chasing boost leaks all the time...Needless to say, i'd be interested at $5k lol
