If someone would like to add it to his N62 X5 what kind of kit would be looked at.

Speaking of which.... does anyone know anything about a Dinan 'stroker' kit supposedly around some time ago?
I have been a Dinan fan since 2002. I don't recall a stroker kit. I do recall that 10 or more years ago you could purchase a S65 stroker motor but I don't remember anything for an X5. If I remember correctly it had to be installed at the factory or by a qualified Dinan shop. The cost of just the S65 engine was around $25,000.

I have two bottle openers so I can use one tank or the other or both and a bottle heater I can switch on to build pressure. I have never lost pressure. I have pressure gauges on each tank and in the console to verify pressure at the tanks and at the nozzle.

Clarification: My personal downside is I have to remember to push a button when I start it up and close it when I get back. I started with one 10lb bottle. It was a downside until I purchased 3 15 lb tanks and put two in place so I don't have to fill them that often and don't get low on the road. I always have a spare full bottle. FYI- I still have some anxiety just before I use it. I knew just enough to be dangerous when I started. The tanks also take up considerable space in the rear so that would be a downside if I cared.

When I went to nitrous years ago I costed out twin rear turbos and a supercharger. I got much more HP and TQ for far less expense with nitrous and Meth and a much easier install. I love the sound of superchargers If there was a supercharger kit based on the Dinan design for around 5 grand I'd have it and then go to a 2 stage nitrous shot of maybe 100 and a 25 or 50 second danger zone shot.

IMO, turbos and superchargers are not a hands down decision on our X5s based on a value equation of cost divided by HP/TW gains. X5s are heavy so I focused on increasing low end torque as much as possible from standing start. As you know torque gets you going, horsepower keeps you going.

I don't mean to sound like I am promoting nitrous. This is just what I learned along the way. If we were talking about newer BMWs that start from a higher HP/TQ baseline and you can upgrade the turbo system with custom kits that generate huge gains or just add a tune, I agree. I purchased a $1,000 tune that requires no other mods to our X5M that generates an additional 150HP and 198 on the torque side. Takes it over 700HP. That's a great value.
That definitely is a great value.. holy hell..

Im not well versed nitrous but to me its just not on tap like it would be a SC or TC... Forced induction is forever, per say, one lives off of the crank and the other off of exhaust. More pedal, more boost, less pedal less boost but its always there..

I don't keep up with the N20 world so my question is, does that methodology exist to where you can control the shot via the pedal with acceleration or deceleration or is it just a one blast and go deal..

There are no kits for our BMWs. There are universal kits. My universal kit is from Nitrous Express, 3 tanks from nitrous outlet, 2 bottle openers, heater blanket and purge kit from Zex, 3 gauges from Glow Shift and meth injection and controller is from Snow. You should at least have low restriction exhaust. I have LR exhaust and electric cutouts. The install isn't that difficult though it takes some planning. I have all of the controls wired in at the bottom of the console which was no fun at all. Then you need a few hours on a dyno to do some tuning. Mine was on the difficult side because I chose to keep the Dinan tune that advanced the timing rather than retarded it and I didn't go to colder plugs. That is part of the reason for meth.

How much of a shot is based on the condition and design of the engine or how much risk you are willing to take. You also have to consider limitations of the driveline components such as the transmission. I don't have to use my X5 as a daily driver.

Multiple stages of nitrous or ramping up amount of nitrous are done with a controller as explained here. https://www.nitrousexpress.com/16008...ontroller.html

Re the supercharger, I'm on the same mission for my project 4.8is...

It's become a mission as I've read so much about the failures of newer V8's by BMW not being addressed that unless you stick with a diesel it's really dangerous to buy one outside of the US (we have no lemon laws in Australia)

Even though it's hard to find a low k E53 I'm on the hunt (or I will upgrade my existing 130,000km one) and I've decided to stick with the E53. It's a known quantity thanks to all the info on this forum, has pretty well everything you could want in the real world and can be upgraded with a few creature comforts such as seats, nav, brakes and suspension.

There are some people in Russia making a seat module to allow the F15 seats to fit and talk with the E53 so that's on the way...

Definitely going the Bilstein route with the suspension and have already chosen the wheels...

The Nav is going to be a toss up once I find the time to read the LOOOOOONG thread here on audio upgrades vs android/dynavin head unit..

The only issue is the engine....

So far I've contacted G-Power but they have nothing and aren't interested in providing any info...

Alpina didn't respond.... nor did the engineering company that made the blocks...
Ditto with Dinan and ESS...

I WILL find a way to get some extra ponies... and my indy is enrolled...

so the hunt continues...
Who we talking about here, can we get some hints lol... I think I know but I need some confirmation
