Based on another thread, maybe it's my window switch? As this a problem being carried over from the PO, who knows right??!

I have an extra one, will try that haha!

for the wiki. Not mirror related.
I was having a issue with a window or 2 acting out on it's own.
Replaced the main switch thinking it was the brain.

Figuered the other switches were dummys. Anyhow, it ended up me replacing of the the dummy switches, which somehow was throwing this off...

Tried another mirror that I know was working as I saw it in action before removal.

And again once in my car it doesn’t function probably but also am I not doing it right?

I even replaced the window switch and still doesn’t want to stay closed.

Does the passenger window switch matter as well?

Also I’m just pressing the square button with the ignition off, does it only work with something else running or active?

Yes, both driver and passenger side switches need to work or both mirrors simply fold back out again. DAMHIK...

And nope, nothing else needs to be on. Or off.

Seems like there is only one part number for the passenger side switch. What I meant was if there was a different switch for cars with power fold option for the passenger side.

Not sure what you mean. Why would there be a switch for cars with no power mirror option? What would the switch do?

We are talking about the micro-switch inside the mirror, right?

*edit* Oh, sorry - I see you said WINDOWS switch... Doh! My bad..

I don't think the windows switch is involved... I'll check the circuit diagrams...

No the window switch, I'm just looking at all possibilities lol

I quadrupled checked the micro switches on both mirrors, all was good.

Even held it with my fingers and pushed the mirrors in and out and micro switch lever is hitting the notches correctly as it should.

Yep, I'm caught up with you now.

So the mirrors ARE controlled via the module in the passengers door (which is what I'm guessing you are referring to when you say "switch").

This diagram shows the connections for mirror heating and the mirror up/down-left-right operation: -

Still looking for a diagram that confirms that the mirror power-fold operation is also routed via the passenger door module. It seems likely that it is.

But you have eliminated this? So what's left? Bad wiring in the door or door hinge area?

*edit* - Conformed that the mirror fold micro-switch is routed via the passenger door module...

According to the wiring diagrams, driver's and passenger power fold mirrors each have their own module (I think window switch) which communicate via a bus with the GM module. haha I wasn't typing fast enough!

Yep, looks like it. The bus sends the commands to open or close the mirror to the door module, which activates the motor and monitors the position via the micro-switch.

I would have put money on the motor and the switch being wired back to the drivers module but there ya go!

BMW really made a HUGE effort to run as many items via data bus controlled modules, reducing the total wiring runs.
