Not to offend. Hi fidelity audio over bluetooth feels like a fool's errand. USB, CD, or etc direct connection seems like a much better way to deliver FLAC or other high quality audio to the head unit. This is the same reason I do not use WiFi connectivity for my TV's, PS3/4, computers, etc in the house. Ran 2-4 wall drops of Cat 5e or 6 in each room. Better to have more bandwidth available through a hardwired connection. Same goes for home theater setup. No wireless protocols for are fast enough for my tastes.

I am EXTREMELY OFFENDED!... lol jk

I understand. It's just that I've never had this issue before with any other wireless bluetooth setup with streaming spotify even on very high settings. I made some changes to quality and changed to a LDAC codec to optimize for quality and it seem to make a small difference. Really think the quality of the Bluetooth on it isn't equipped to handle high fidelity audio and again I've never had this issue before and I'm fairly particular about my sound quality. I'm also planning on upgrading my phone soon, but I'll look to run it via android auto USB and see how it works once I get a nice high quality non aftermarket cable.

I hear you. But wouldn't it be easier to just install spotify on the head unit (I assume the Eonon is an Android unit) and hot-spot wireless to your phone? That way there is no need for wireless transfer/processing of the audio data at all.

Hello Everyone,

TLDR: Updated with a file from Eonon and it fixed the Bluetooth Music quality issues.

Ok, I know it has been a while but wanted to provide an update to what has been a long journey. I've been fiddling with this damn radio for a while and just accepting the fact that it would be terrible quality... However! I checked in with Eonon one more time and told them the issue was still not resolved after following their long list of instructions. The only one I skipped was them telling me to get a ground loop isolator, because I knew the sound quality wasn't related to power or engine noise.

After following up with them this week they sent me a ZIP file to update the system and after the update, reset and re pairing the phone the sound is finally acceptable quality. The high frequencies that hold the high hat and cymbals were no longer crackling or distorted and am now able to increase the amp volume from -15DB to about -6DB.

Thanks for all your help! Hopefully this helps someone else who runs into this issue.

Glad to hear this was a BT/wireless transmission issue.

As was previously said, I avoid BT to my Android unit. I simply HotSpot to the Android (this is the major feature that I love about the Android unit) and boot up Spotify or Pandora or SirriusXM and boom, I'm in great sound.

For those with DSP, an essential piece of gear with an Android HU is the iBus interface and app.

It is also a phenomenal app for recovering (and gaining additional coding functionality) all the BC functionality that would otherwise be lost when upgrading to an Android HU

After upgrading the HU, you'll be so tempted to upgrade the nearly 15 year old speaker technology. I upgraded all my speakers and added the factory sub in the stock location being driven by a separate amp from the sub RCA connection out of my Eonon GA6166 (Since upgraded to a PX5 board w/4GB RAM and 32GB ROM). For me, the sound results that I now have in my E53 make this my favorite audio vehicle.

This thread was my inspiration and guide for my speaker upgrades
