I-BUS Coding - Coming Home Lights

Has anyone successfully coded the coming/leaving home lights? I'm trying to have lights come on when I lock or unlock the car with my key fob.

In Light Control Memory 2 and 3, I have high beam and brake lights turn on for 10 sec. Assigned to coming home and leaving home. When I press play, the lights come on as expected.

I have the coming home morning time to 4:00am and leaving home eventing time to 4:00pm. I've tried playing around with the timing but doesn't seem to work.

The "telegram" works, because I see my glovebox blink for a second.

Are there other settings I'm missing?

Not quite sure if I understand your query.....

Just after you turn-off the X5 and removing key from the ignition......

You need to pull the left stalk to initiate.........coming home feature.

I'm talking about aftermarket i-bus coding. Not the stock coming home feature.

Looks like iBus actually has basically all the same features as the modLight. iBus can be installed on any android HU where settings can be changed which is nice.

I already was able to select options like triple blink on turn signal tap, automatic door unlock when key is turned to off.

Welcome message on IKE and selectable information (only time and range) on IKE...

It's really cool to play with all the features but some need to be investigated more thoroughly to work

My bad!

Similar to my wife's VW R32.

I did this to her car via VCDS coding no aftermarket module needed.

Maybe possible with SSS progman and NCS Expert..which really never worked in my old laptop.

Hmmm....might try and revisit these BMW software again.

Ok, I’m just getting into this and looks like in order to have coming home lights to work you have to rewire the canbus box and activate the “consumer shutdown” option in the iBus settings.

My basic understanding is that you have to wire up the head unit so it acts like the oem Navi unit when the key fob is pressed. The oem Navi starts up briefly, just showing the splash screen (not fully powering on) when you unlock the car and shutdowns again unless the key is turned on to ignition.

All it is supplying a 12v trigger to power up the canbus box temporary and allows the iBus do it’s thing.

For example I have set my mirrors to automatically unfold/fold with ignition but in the mornings I have to wait until the head unit finishes booting up and ibus app starts running. Not a problem when the head unit is on standby.

I have not tried wiring it up for consumer shutdown but for now I can live with having to push the buttons in the mornings to unfold (I was doing it manually all these times anyways).

I will be trying it out eventually though as I want my angel eyes to turn on when I unlock the car

It is just a shame that the ModLight2 wont fire the halos as DRL. It does everything else we want like key fob welcome and goodbye lighting, key fob mirror fold/unfold, auto unlock on key off, corner lights, triple blink, etc...

If they would just add the halos as DRL, it would do everything I want Ibus related.

I'm not sure what came first iBUS or Modlight2 but iBUS can essentially do everything Modlight can except that iBUS needs the App to be running or woken up as opposed to Modlight2 just having set pre-programmed features and no app to run.

But iBUS does far more and outweighs the Modlight2 IMO.

I think we need an official iBUS thread lol
