E53 3.0d Fuel rail pressure sensor
Hi
I have a starting problem with my car and after sending to mechanic they said its fuel pressure rail sensor problem. Can someone tell me where its located and how to get to it. |

Interesting they should tell you the fault but not indicate it's location...
Anywho... it depends on which engine you have. Firstly, the rail pressure sensor can be seen clearly (to the right of the EGR) in the front views starting about 30secs into the video, even with the intake manifold in place. It's likely that you can remove this sensor without removing the intake manifold. Secondly, if you DO remove the intake manifold, be VERY careful when lifting the manifold clear of the mounting studs - the gaskets are known to fall off the manifold and drop into the engine's intake ports! Thirdly, the X3 video linked above shows the intake manifold has swirl flaps. The M57/M57TU (aka M57N) as fitted to the X5 E53 does NOT have swirl flaps, so don't bother worrying about them. Here's a couple of pictures from my own car - an LCI model, so engine is an M57TUD30. Red arrows show the fuel rail pressure sensor, yellow shows the fuel pressure regulator. Oh, I forgot to add - if your engine IS the earlier model (still not sure but I think it is...) then the fuel rail pressure sensor will be at the BACK of the rail, where the pressure regulator is on my M57TUD30 (yellow arrow location in photo above). Acessing this WILL require the removal of the intake manifold.

Hi
Changed fuel pressure sensor and still had the same problem so had to give the car to BMW. They found out that its pressure regulating valve that's faulty. Any schematics or explanations how to get to it ?
