If anybody wants to put together a tool kit for E53 window repair, Here is what you need:
-T-20 Torx driver -Medium Philips head -8mm nut driver -Front and rear window clips ( you need two for front and one for rear) -Blue Loctite - keep screw from backing out. -Duct tape - to temp re-seal vapor barrier if ripped. -Piece of word or pipe to prop window (if unable to repair) -Small and plastic large trim tools (thin narrow and thin wide is best) I might add a long bolt the same thread as locking bolts to draw in securing bolt I had a window fail on a family trip this past summer. And I just had two others fail in freezing weather - son did not know to leave windows alone in freezing weather. |

Be warned - not all loctite products are compatible with all plastics.....

the blue loctite I suggested is to be used to keep the small bolt(s) from backing out of the metal locking nut (holding glass, plastic clips, regulator together). It's metal on metal.

Yep - just don't get it on the plastic parts - it can dissolve them.
