TIP for easy access to back of engine

You all probably already know this, but somehow I didn't learn this until my 3rd E53

Two nuts (one holding the battery cable to the jumpstart lug and the other similar one on the passenger side), and the whole heater cowling comes off. Let's see - wish I knew this when doing VCG, spark plugs, exhaust manifolds/HEADERS!

I wish the E39 used a similar set-up instead of those dumb bellows that you spin into location - an invariably break the tabs..

wpoll will become famous soon enough
You have to remove this intake assembly to change the (engine) air filter on the 3.0d so this "tip" is well known in the diesel circles!
