My 02 3.0d auto always sluggish
I've checked pipes, manifold doesnt seem to be blowing or cracked. Got a new one to fit anyway. I don't hear my brakes sticking, and no my handbreak isn't on. Lol |

Twice in recent months people have reported similar and the vacuum system that controls the boost was at fault

Would it not throw a code though?

Don’t think so just didn’t reliably give boost

Try driving in manual shift mode. Maybe transmission is early shifting and you are out of the power band?

It's easy to test with a vacuum pump... Also, VGT turbos are know to coke up and cause these symptoms, when the vanes become foulded and cannot move freely. The above vacuum test sort of check this too, as you can see the actuator arm on the turbo more (or not).

There's a number of issues that can cause your symptoms but you gotta start somewhere!
EGR system, clogged intake manifold, failing injectors and fuel pumps systems (pressure regulators etc.) are all possibilities. Many of these will throw codes though. Ever checked the engine breather? I doubt your exhaust manifold is a problem - the pre-facelift cars had cast manifolds that never give issues - it was the facelift cars (LCI - 09/03 until 06) that had the stainless manifolds that crack.
